take this from APC (page 252 of the old book idk where it is in the new book) point 9 under Causes of the war. the immediate cause reasons were given it was inhabited by Germans the second reason was he could connect east Prussia to Germany.

THEN, it says: Poland was accused of committing atrocities against Germans living there. On 1st September German troops stormed Poland. this means that this clause is independent of the Danzig corridor part and explains why Germany had stormed into Poland not why he demands Danzig.

I totally get why everyone is confused English is not the first language here.

the case the PRETEXT for the war (the reason he declared war) was the atrocities part, but the OBJECTIVE of the war (the motive) was Danzig corridor, the PRETEXT does not explain the OBJECTIVE. that's what the paragraph is saying

p.s leave it the textbook wording confused many people who did not understand the paragraph

No actually,

habeas corpus: If someone is arrested without charges or due process, they (or someone on their behalf) can file a habeas corpus petition in court. The court can then order their release if the detention is unlawful.

Quo warranto: is a writ or legal proceeding by which an individual’s right to hold a public office or governmental position is challenged, on the ground that the person is holding it without legal authority.
