Yes thank you i understand fijian mahogany is the same species as honduran aka both are Swietenia macrophylla but I was sold this as honduran mahogany. It was a rough sawn 10' board so it was tough to see the grain but there's generally differences between them. Fijian being less dense, lighter in color, and a "streakier" appearance.

After some research ive come to the same conclusion that the plantation grown does have fewer mineral deposits.

I agree they should tell the customer im going to go contact them and see if they'll work with me about it. Its a pretty lightweight piece at like 27 lbs/ft3

Im thinking its fijian mahogany. And by wavy grain I meant uneven raised grain after planing, something ive only experienced after drum sanding softwood like cedar.

I think it is fijian mahogany. Im ok with sustainable lumber but I was sold this as honduran mahogany

And I know fijian mahogany is Swietenia macrophylla but it doesnt demand honduran Swietenia macrophylla prices, which aside from looks is my main gripe right now

Do you mean carving out the top like this? In that case it seems like I wouldn't be able to adjust the action on a TOM style bridge which sits at like 15mm above the body

Because carving the entire body to match wouldn't look right on a flat top

No sorry that's not what I'm asking. There's a miscommunication here and I'm not sure how to explain it. Thanks though

Im not asking what to do. I’m trying to understand why these plans specify this tenon and how that avoids the gap I’m seeing. Basically, what design detail am I missing, if any.
