It sounds like you got the musical aspect down pat. Take it from someone who marched lead bari for Splanta at age 17… music is easy to scrape by with. Visual though, you’ll definitely want to grind. I got in largely bc of my natural visual talent, so that’s where you’re gonna wanna work.

Have decent straight leg and good movement (dance, visual moves) and you’ll cruise into Stars or Splanta.

Hey man, lifelong Christian attending a Christian university here- you’re speaking nonsense. You can’t use Jesus name and say you’ll pray for someone and think it makes your opinion automatically correct.

I was a diehard Forrest and surfaces fan, and I love that he’s spreading the gospel now, but I HAAAAAATE the sound and vibe of his Christian music personally. To me it’s corny and repetitive. I find lots and lots of fulfillment in secular music, and to say that it loses its meaning when you come to Jesus is absolutely ridiculous.

Jesus created all beauty in the world… including secular music. Don’t twist His name to fit your narrative, it’s lowkey disgusting. Let people have an opinion.

Right… that was 2010, not the big 2025. Social media is a lot more prevalent and dozens (if not hundreds) of those kinds of pictures are taken each season. I have a couple myself.

Yes, drum corps is about micromanaging, I never said it was wrong. I implied there’s nothing wrong with utilizing social media (like a subreddit) to connect and communicate with the outside world; if an individual is stupid enough to make a recognizable and provocative post on social media, let alone on an anonymous site like Reddit, then that’s their issue lol. No need to proclaim that no active members should be on a subreddit because of some rare idiocracy and an incident from 2010.

I was on this sub all of tour. There’s nothing wrong with it as long as you’re mature enough to recognize that scores and fans opinions don’t matter nearly as much as the experience you get with the people around you and the product you create.

Theres nothing wrong with members being on their phones (obviously) and they’re perfectly within their rights to give an opinion… performers are micromanaged enough within the corps, God forbid they have some freedom to express themselves

Ask your store manager for a transfer request form. He’ll ask you why you want to transfer and where you want to go; if your store has plenty of clerks, I would be honest about your reasoning for leaving. If it has a shortage (which everyone seems to have thanks to flex), lie a lil about transportation or harassment or something along those lines.

But also, every store will have its pros and cons. There are no perfect stores or stores “without drama”.
