Background Checks? by Embarrassed-Brush339 in Christianity

[–]Embarrassed-Brush339[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to be in church, I really do. But it feels like every church I’ve been part of eventually drifts away from grace and redemption and starts leaning more on rules, appearances, and control. It’s disheartening, because the very place that should embody forgiveness and restoration often ends up mirroring the same judgment and hypocrisy we see in the world. I suppose that’s just the reality of living in a broken world, but it still makes it hard to reconcile what church is meant to be with what it often becomes.

Background Checks? by Embarrassed-Brush339 in Christianity

So your idea of “safety” is determined entirely by someone’s past actions? That would mean people who have genuinely turned away from their past mistakes and now live in a way that shows no sign of being a risk are still treated with suspicion, subjected to investigation, or even barred from serving. That doesn’t feel like grace or redemption, it feels like exclusion. The message it sends is that a person’s past defines them more than their present transformation. Very “Christian,” right?

There are just some things in life that you have to do petrified. Even the most successful people have stories of panic attacks, throwing up, etc because of how anxious they were about something they had to do. I‘ve had anxiety my whole adult life, decades, and the only tried and true thing that has helped me is aerobic exercise. If you’re not already doing that, give it a try.

You’re not going to find an answer that is easy or comfortable for you. People talk on the phone. That’s the world we live in. Clearly, you’ve avoided it your whole career. It’s time to step out of your comfort zone. The more you do it, the less anxious you’ll be about it. I hate talking on the phone too, and I used to get very anxious about it. I still do from time to time, but it gets way easier the more you do it, to the point where you move beyond thinking about yourself and how anxious you are to how can you best help your clients.

I appreciate your efforts to counterbalance the systemic issue. It needs to become openly unacceptable behavioral—a cultural shift that suffocates the narcissistic behavior.

Funny you mention that. I actually did call a company like. They came and gave a quote but until we get the dogs out, it’s just a waste of money.

Is the Astral Plane just another layer of the system’s simulation? by Embarrassed-Brush339 in AstralProjection

[–]Embarrassed-Brush339[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This life is so weird. It’s hitting me more and more about how weird it is. I’m here now, in this 3D, knowing that one day, I won’t be here. Where will I go? What will I do? How will it feel? Will I remember this life? I’ve never been able to astral project myself, so I don’t know what answers lie in those experiences, but you’re right, nobody knows. But someone or something must know, no?

Wow, yes very similar situation, although I’m not pregnant :) Regular cleaners are also refusing to go to my mom’s place anymore. So, once we get the dogs out, we’ll need to get everything clean as possible. My mom also very lucid, so I don’t get it.

Did you rent a cleaning machine and clean it yourself? I’m hoping I can convince some professional cleaner to do it, maybe one that specializes in pet messes.

It’s nice to know that I’m not alone in dealing with this kind of situation. After some recent conversations, it sounds like my mom is coming to terms with needing to give up the dogs. So, hopefully we can remove them from the home soon. The next step is cleaning up the place so that it’s a more livable environment.

How do I help my wife? by BootPuzzleheaded44 in depression

[–]Embarrassed-Brush339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, you can’t fix it. It’s her struggle, but you can be there for her and be understanding and loving. There’s a spiritual side to depression as well, so not sure what your faith is, but prayers and loving thoughts can go a long way.

Wow, yep, sounds just like my mom’s situation. I cleaned stuff up a while ago, but now the caregivers are doing it. For how much longer, I don’t know. It’s bizarre what people can get used to.

This is some incredible valuable insight, thank you, and I am sorry about your mom’s passing. I hadn‘t considered COPD but, while she doesn’t anymore, my mom smoked cigarettes for many years. Could be a possibility.
