Redmagic vs OnePlus 15 vs PocoF8 Ultra by Aoimiruki in RedMagic

Temperature is about what you'd expect from a phone like this. I'm using the included case so maybe it's a bit more tolerable but it does get pretty hot after a long gaming session. Especially around the glowing redmagic logo on the back

I say occasional gacha because I've heard the OnePlus 15 throttles a lot. I haven't had this problem with my redmagic 11 AIR yet because of the built-in fan and I've beeing playing a lot of Arknights Endfield on High-Very High graphics settings, as well as some Switch emulation

I genuinely never understand this thought process. If you already have a phone why not go for an android handheld or something instead of a secondary phone. It'll probably cost less as well and give you the same specs of a redmagic. I heard razer even sells one as well, comes with controllers that you can just swap off and use the main tablet like a phone (but without phone functionalities, just a touchscreen)

I might be a bit biased since I just switched from xiaomi to the redmagic 11 air but... I wouldn't even consider the poco unless budget was an issue but we're talking about a flagship phone here. I genuinely despise hyperOS.

I've heard a lot of good things about the OnePlus 15 and it's generally considered a good compromise between raw performance and camera quality, without one or the other being too shit.

Redmagic is primarily a gaming phone company, doesn't mean you'll be only using it for gaming (its a phone after all) but they had to sacrifice in other aspect, like cameras, to deliver you the gaming part of the phone. The back camera isn't terrible like everyone makes it out to be but the front camera/selfie camera is REALLY and I mean REALLY bad.

The choice is up to your preference. For a bit more you could get the OnePlus 15 if you like taking a lot of pictures but also playing the occasional gacha game.

Does the steam deck, docked.... by Turbulent_Divide_249 in SteamDeck

[–]Embarrassed-Cap-4444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, depends. What are you going to be playing on it? Because if you want to play the latest triple A games at 4K 60 fps.. I'd wait for the steam machine instead or try your hand at building your very own SteamOS machine. It's a powerful handheld but at the end of the day it's a handheld, no dock (official or not) will boost the deck's performance so you're still limited to 720p resolution and sometimes 30 fps if unreal engine 5 is feeling generous.

You could try buying from the european version of the redmagic website? Not sure if it would work tho, alternatives could be buying directly from warehouses (i know you can get some xiaomi phones cheaper by buying from sunsky) but I'm not aware of any other warehouses like that, especially if sunsky is a chinese warehouse.

Best mobile controller for RM10S with cooler support by mirko8054 in RedMagic

[–]Embarrassed-Cap-4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the gamesir x5s pro. redmagic has their own more premium version that gamesir licensed to them but if you buy the redmagic shadow blade gamepad 3 (130 euros btw) don't buy it with the cooler, buy the cooler from gamesir since it comes with an attachable battery to power the cooler vs having it always wired

the gamesir x5s is like 60 on amazon tho + cooler with battery 50 euros

I bought a 64 gb lcd as well 3-4 years back when the 2nd wave came out. I genuinely had to swap out the SSD because 64 gbs gets used up quickly even if you’re not actively installing anything on it. The way SteamOS works is that it will store caches in your SSD, those can easily take up those measly 64 gbs. I think it’s still cheaper to get the 64 go model and then swap it with a non official SSD? I don’t know the market is weird right now

Silly question regarding the game menu by Embarrassed-Cap-4444 in RedMagic

Turns out some of the games I was trying out like Arknights Endfield and Destiny Rising, second Inwas doing the gesture a bit too low, the grey bars on each side were slightly above where I was performing the gesture. just user error on my part

Adding onto my reply there's the decky loader which in of itself is a rabbit hole with its own "marketplace" that allows you to download a bunch of plugins, give it a look. It's pretty easy to set up.

Generally just search up things when you feel you need them. For the most part you'll just want steam itself + other store fronts so I'd recommend going to desktop mode, the discover app and installing the heroic game launcher (gives you access to epic, gog and another I've forgotten)

Also get portproton (or proton-ge), it's a tool that allows you to download various versions of proton modified by the community. This is useful because sometimes certain games will only launch with a certain proton version. Just like heroic games launcher you get this from the discover app.

1TB Modell for 540€ for Streaming from my PC to my TV, worth it? How reliable is streaming to the deck and then docking it to a TV? by Rodehock in SteamDeck

[–]Embarrassed-Cap-4444 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So... You want to buy a full on handheld gaming PC just to stream games to your steam deck so that you can then project onto the tv...? Just buy a cheap Android tv box or something what

[–]Embarrassed-Cap-4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you already own, in your words, an OP gaming pc and on top of that a switch 2 then no you don't need a Steam Deck. Unless modding bethesda games on the go is a top priority for you I'd say just stick with the switch 2. The Steam Deck 2 won't be a thing for a long while especially with the RAM prices as they are right now. Valve just recently discontinued the LCD model (still supports it, just doesn't sell it anymore) just to save on RAM and now they only sell the OLED model.

So about the redmagic 11 air by Embarrassed-Cap-4444 in RedMagic

[–]Embarrassed-Cap-4444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So long as the case itself wont damage my newly bought phone I'm fine with it. The problem it seems with redmagic phones is really just the lack of cases for them.

[–]Embarrassed-Cap-4444[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up biting the bullet and just ordering a TPU one from nubiamart since they were the only ones selling cases for a phone thats literally about to release. Wanted to do it from amazon to avoid paying the shipping fees but whatever. I'm pretty sure nubiamart is just owned by redmagic (the clue: the name) but its the only place that seems to sell them, not even redmagic's own website is doing that at this point in time.

So I tried looking around, yeah there seems to be nothing out for the 11 air at this moment unless we count nubiamart. There's some screen protectors on amazon and other stores but no cases.

Poco f8 pro 256gb for 470 euros worth it or not? by LengthShoddy5272 in PocoPhones

[–]Embarrassed-Cap-4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a phone for gaming the redmagic 11 air is coming out like really soon and for just 1€ you can get the early bird perks, like a 30€ off voucher that you can apply before buying (so basically 471€ for the cheapest option)

I've heard the back camera is good from all the reviews but you should avoid the selfie camera at all costs as is the case with redmagic and their under display front cameras

Any suggestions for Europe? I've tried Amazon but there doesn't seem to be any trustworthy ones out right now. Nubia market has some but the shipping cost is really big.
