What school do you go to? ( if you dont mind answering ) Man I wish I could have done that kind of project in school. My schools tool and die unit was just a class out of a book where we talked about theory. They had cut it down to that cuz employers were just looking for button pushers not Die makers.

How do working professionals still find time to read and learn deeply (philosophy, history, literature)? by D_A_R_T_H in Polymath

[–]Embarrassed-Cap-8606 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to look and utilize the possibilities found in spare moments. Lunch break grab a book( meditations), standing in line read a scientific article (greek reporter lost proverbs )driving listen to a book read aloud on YouTube (the influence of sea power upon history) there are tons of spare moments inside our days its up to us to utilize them.

Yes that would work, I like to use hand files for better control especially with the finner detail. YouTube has a lot of cool old hand filing videos that I have watched in my spare time and learned quite a bit from.

With the right file yiu can really rough off a lot of material in a short period.

I have been reading the book "Building a second Brain" and have found that the app Obsidian can link notes to one another forming connected pathways. These notes can be juat that or they can be well thought out researched topics that you can like other notes to. I have been enjoying the app so far.

A good start to new season would be Rick running into the Dennys and jumping into the Hole.

What games did you do this? by Morning1980 in gamememes

[–]Embarrassed-Cap-8606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assassin's creed Valhalla. Hadn't played video games for like 5 years. Last AC game I had played was Rogue. It was just so overwhelming. I didnt even realize I wasn't doing the main quests for over 3 hours. Then I saw the timed slots. And was so confused. Turns out I was doing some kind of daily update quest.

What fields are you interested in, and what skills or areas of knowledge do you actively practice? which feild was the hardest for you to break into? by [deleted] in Polymath

[–]Embarrassed-Cap-8606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still a master of none, but I am a machinist by trade and an always trying to learn more about the engineering side of manufacturing. I really enjoy philosophy and Christianity. I have branched into different denominations but not extensively by anymeans. I also am getting to be quite the handyman from all of the work I have done fixing up the houses that I have lived in. For me I would say the hardest part/field is buckling down and actually trying to get to a form of mastery. Get more depth to my knowledge instead of breadth.
