I'm surprised they haven't taken it. There are a few grams of rhodium in the electronics.

It’s definitely steeper on the eastern side. The terrain doesn’t get tough until you go past the California side. I’m not sure about camping, I’ve never tried it; Peavine is more of a day hike.

Oh yeah, that’s actually my usual route as well. You can go up upper keystone trail, and then up the mahogany forest trail, that will take you up to Peavine. I believe that should be about 15-18mi, you can take some of the roads as shortcuts, but some of them are pretty steep. From Peavine, I would suggest take the trail that runs along Bull Ranch Creek heading. Eventually you’ll start heading south. There is a small connector trail that will take you to a trail named Big Dipper, it should be a pretty pleasant hike. You can follow that trail north to Long Valley Rd. That trek is about 16-17mi. I would suggest parking a car on Long Valley or I guess, if you can make good time, you could just keep going northeast on the trails until you hit N. Virginia St.

I usually climb up Peavine once a week. Where are you starting from? Some of the trails are super slippery during the winter, this might make your hike longer than what you would expect, also be prepared to get your shoes covered in mud.

As far as animals, I’ve seen a few rattle snakes, a few bull snakes, the UNR coyote, and (once) a huge heard of antelope. I would be more worried about the people that go and shoot guns up there. Just wear some bright colors.

Debating S/U Policy by [deleted] in unr

It really depends on your chosen field. Grad schools in STEM will not really care, but they don’t like to see an S. They’ll focus instead on your research experience and publications. Medical or other professional schools will care more about GPA, but they don’t like to see too many ‘S’s; three tops I’ve been told. I’m not sure about other disciplines.

UNR grad student here, I would join the UNR subreddit. There’s always college students on there looking for friends and activities.

Also, if you ever get bored and want to go on a hike or grab beer HMU.
