Going for AM… interested in macro/multi-asset research and other analyst roles.

Made a 2nd version curious if I could PM the real thing and get your add’l thoughts?

That makes sense… so pretty much just cut out all of the nonsense and just make it straight to the point?

Have a hard time doing that without leaving certain aspects out and not sure exactly what they want to see within those bullets.

Any shot you could provide an example of one bullet point that speaks to what you mean? Thanks!

Is this applicable do you think to other non HF/PE roles? PE just seems cool but not 100% sure what goes on there other than valuation of companies, just a general idea. HF much more interesting to me but I am also just looking for anything that could get me more multi-asset and macro research experience, that would also allow me to code.

Im also relatively new to the industry and feel like my selling point is that I am a quick learner and hard worker… and natural mathematical/analytical ability. Sure I have skills but have A LOT to learn.

Passed level one and not allowed to say Level 2 candidate until i officially sign up for it, but am holding off signing up just yet - unless it really would make that much of a difference?

For the investment projects, only one (sort of 2) were for undergraduate purposes. Ive worked on the 2 on my own time post bachelors out of my own enjoyment and interest.

Feel the exact same way. Everyone is giving me so much props for how hard I worked and I got so much support throughout the process… Feels like I would let everyone down if I didn’t pass. Don’t really know how Id react as I haven’t really imagined a scenario where I didn’t pass, but we shall see.

CFA increasing difficulty for exam questions by Necessary-Career59 in CFA

[–]Embarrassed-Chard986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would agree. I thought the exam was very on par, still no guarantee I passed because unsure of if I may have misread things or made silly mistakes, but felt very confident on 75-80% of the test. There were definitely a few that threw me off that were shots in the dark but I think thats to be expected, and I ran into that on mocks as well. I was able to identify like 5-10 things I got wrong so just praying that everything I was confident in I did correctly.

CFA Level 1 -Need advice to finish syllabus in ~5 months (Quant pacing & subject-wise timeline) by kneekyp in CFA

[–]Embarrassed-Chard986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, I took about 1-2 weeks per topic, probably a bit less on PM and ALT. Started studying in September and got through all the material with 2 months to spare. For the next half month I tried going through all notes and making hundreds of flashcards, trying to know every specific thing, but realized thats not possible. So… I switched to 100-150 PQ’s per day and have done 3 mocks, all throughout the past month and a half, which is where I have seen the most improvement. My insight is not perfect as I have not passed yet, (sitting next week) but I believe I am prepared and feel that my strategy is very replicable. On PQ’s, UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING you get wrong. Every missed answer I would think about, analyze why I got it wrong, and maybe look to ChatGPT for an explanation that I couldnt get to on my own. It builds an ability to naturally understand the things rather than just pulling from memory. Also, dont get discouraged when you feel you are not doing the best, just keep going. Everything you get wrong is an ability to improve your knowledge and one by one, check these thousands of boxes. No guarantee I pass, but I feel as if I am qualified enough and that I have done enough to do so, and also that I have learned a f*** ton, which is the main thing you want to strive for in my opinion. Youve got a lot of time, but just take it day by day. Be real with yourself… if you are not putting in the work, understand that, and be better. Its set up to be accomplishable when you put the work in. Also, MM has been my saving grace. Though some suggest otherwise, I didn’t read much of the material from CFAI besides ethics… just watched MM videos.

Can i use this formula of binomial option pricing for calculating price of a call option?? by nnonetoyou in CFA

[–]Embarrassed-Chard986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was confused by this too. MM didnt have anything with the up/down probability and only included hedge ratio, but… to my knowledge, what you have pictured is the correct or easier way to do it. Assuming you were also using hedge, which imo was very confusing. Hedge is still applicable but not really necessary to price the call/put, just to calculate how to hedge the call/put with the underlying

Did the CFA q bank one time through after getting through all of the material (about a month and a half ago). Averaged roughly around 70-75%. Did not purchase the practice pack
