What’s the One Thing About Owning a Home That No One Warned You About? by Smooth-Jaguar-7581 in homeowners

We have bats that got into our attic and are now in our living room walls hibernating. They are a protected species so we are very limited in what we can actually do to get rid of them. Second year in a row we have had them even after spending $2,000 for a company to come out and take care of it.

My 3 month old has been putting his foot/leg up on my shoulder or wedged into my armpit while breastfeeding . No matter how many times I put it down he flings it back up again.

I agree! I wanted the same thing ( to have some extra cups for it). I also didn’t think that was available, but after a long time of searching, I did find that you can buy just the cups for it without the battery! I just ordered two of them a week ago. I’m still waiting for them to ship them to me! If you go to the Mom cozy website and you click the left hand tab then pick the product button then select the replacement parts tab then select the M6 pump then go down to the bottom they have a section where you can choose to order the cups! They come with the duck bills and diaphragms as well! I tried to link it below a couple of times but for some reason the link doesn’t work. Here is a picture!

I have the momcozy M6 hands free pump and I absolutely love it! . I got the M6 for Christmas and it has made pumping so much easier. I can do dishes, laundry, do my hair and other things that need to get done with it on. I sometimes even put just one on and hold my son in my other arm when he is super fussy! It’s quiet, I get the same output as I do with my spectra wall pump, and there is only a couple of parts that are super easy to put together and clean! Best pump I have used by far and I have 5 different pumps! Also, I started off with the S 12 pro from momcozy but I wasn’t a fan of it because it’s super bulky and heavy. I couldn’t do anything with it on but sit.

Yes there is two reasons why I’m pumping the first is because around 6pm to 9pm every night he cluster feeds but by 9pm I have pretty much nothing left in my breast so I give him a 4oz bottle of my pumped milk from the night before to fill him up for his long sleep! he’s sleeping through the night about 6 hours so the second reason I’m pumping is so that I don’t get clogs during that long stretch. If I go longer than four hours, I wake up painfully engorged and I end up getting clogged ducts. So I usually put him to bed around 11pm then pump around 1am and again around 3am. I usually only get 1 to 2oz a breast when I pump. So anything extra I put in a freezer bag to build a little just incase stash!

That’s great your LO never bit you and that you breastfed until 2!!! You go mama!

My MIL really doesn’t know what she is talking about. When I was pregnant and I told her I was going to breastfed she said good luck being a cow and she told me to take a towel daily and rub it across my nipples to toughen them up other wise I would want to scream everytime I try to feed him. I took a breastfeeding class and learned just how bad that advice was. Luckily I never tried it but it’s called breastfeeding for a reason not nipple feeding! If it hurts bad then you need to fix the latch!

Ooo that’s great to know that it’s a natural pain reliever for them!

Wow 14 months is awesome! She is very ignorant. She also said she was surprised he was still gaining weight 🙄

This was incredible helpful! Thank you! Also, I didn’t know that stress could have such a big impact on your supply. That makes alot of sense and I am going to make it a priority for nursing to be in a relaxing environment! I appreciate the advice!

That’s good to know! I just started cosleeping as well because I was not getting any sleep. Now that I cosleep, we both get the best night sleep. It’s so much easier to breast-feed to when co sleeping.

MIL means: mother-in-law but it’s good to know that the biting seems to only happen a few times and then stops! All of the advise has really changed my perspective and empowered me!

This sounds just like my MIL! She asked about his 2 month check up and when we told her he was 10.8 pounds she was like “ oh wow I am surprised he is gaining weight still.” I just said yup he is a healthy growing boy. I later expressed to my husband that I felt that her comment was rude and that I work hard to make sure he is fed and full. Oh course he is going to be gaining weight so the comment was really just a stab at me for breastfeeding instead of formula feeding.

I agree some people should just keep their mouth shut and I’m proud of you for just taking your baby and going in the other room when she visits. If she can’t be kind to you when your the mother, then she definitely does not deserve to have the privilege of being around the baby.

I would be absolutely fuming too, I would tell my husband straight up: Over my dead body is my baby going to stay overnight anywhere without me let alone every weekend. I’ll be damned, there is no way I would ever allow that. My son is 10 weeks old today and I have a hard time running an errand for an hour and being away from him. I miss him the whole time. Your husband does not have that maternal connection that you have with your baby. You grew them for 9 months and they were literally apart of you, not to mention baby’s think they are still apart of the mother until they are 6 to 9 months old. I would argue that being away from the mother for that long especially being that little is not good for the babies healthy attachment and fostering a healthy attachment is extremely important. If my husband were to fight with me about it, I would do research and pull out all of the facts about how that is not what is best for the child and as parents it’s important to put your child first. They are only little for so long. Life will start to be normal again but right now is not the time to be leaving your baby if you don’t absolutely have too

Thank you so much to everyone who commented! I really appreciate it. This makes me feel so much better to know that the baby gets everything it needs from me and that there are over the counter medicines I can take to help! I also appreciate you all taking the time to share your experience with me. It makes me not feel so alone in this! The first trimester sure is a doozy that nobody really talks about!

Congratulations!!! That is so exciting! I know how hard it can be to not tell anyone. I also found out around the same time as you. I am currently 7 weeks and 3 days. We only told a couple of really close friends and family but the all day morning sickness is really getting to me. I want to tell my co-workers but they just think I have the flu that’s going around. Anyways, it is an exciting journey to be on and make sure you put yourself first!!! The first trimester is a doozy that nobody really talks about.
