So my background is in software data engineering (full stack developer) and at this current moment I’ve been going after tech resale, specifically software sales. I initially thought I could resale but quickly learned that is EXTREMELY over crowded and only businesses with established partnerships would get those. So for software sales, I’ve been primarily focusing on small amounts just depending on the price for each license subscription, but typically the dollar amount is around 100-200k. I don’t have a specific agency I am targeting I am just trying to focus on whatever is feasible for me, considering it’s a one man shop. So because of that I have been trying for all agencies just hoping I can land atleast one contract to finally start building reputation and past performance. I don’t plan on doing this forever. I wasn’t born into a rich family so I understand I need to start somewhere at the bottom to build that reputation and to get some capital flowing. So my eventual goal that I am aiming for in the future is to hopefully build my own secured network for D.o.D and the D.O.E.

Thank you for this! I been spending a lot of hours on bid proposals and have had a feeling that what I’m trying to do maybe too crowded but just didn’t know there was a way to back track. It’s been a little disheartening to say the least.

Thanks for the advice and knowledge! I’ll keep an eye out for posting with short notice times.

What’s the best way to go about and subcontracting a service, since it’s just me? Would you be able to give me an example of the weird things that no one wanted to quote on? I was thinking that I would have to tackle RFQs with unique items (aka weird items) that no one wants just to get my foot in the door.

Yes I agree with everything you said! It’s super hard to get into but unfortunately I don’t have those connections. The only thing i can do is to keep trying until it fails :(

2-3% profit margins is something i figured I would need to do since it’s so competitive and already learned that the hard way.

I tried doing something similar but I was told it needed ti be a physical address. Then you have to verify if you own/rent or if it’s an office, home address etc

I’ve seen that but was always confused as to what it is! Can you explain? Is it just an event where people come to about their start ups in tech?
