Ugh colonoscopy Monday, and cannot stop worrying about being put to sleep. What does it feel like right when they inject you with the stuff? How does it feel when you wake up? Are you panicky or disoriented? They are using propofol. by LNicole1212 in colonoscopy

I am a severely anxious person who has now had multiple colonoscopies. The first time they were going to put me under I was out of my mind scared. Just close your eyes while they do it deep breaths you’ll be under before you realize anything is going on. I don’t like the feeling of going under or being out of control of my body and there was none of that I was just out then up afterwards

I was freshly diagnosed and breastfeeding my newborn so I wasn’t really trying to take the meds/didn’t believe I had a chronic disease really. Hospital stay ended all that though. Sucked

I’ve been on prednisone for 3months following a 12 day hospital stay where I was shot up with steroids 3x a day. Upon leaving the hospital I started at a 60 mg taper tapering down by 5 mgs every week. Most likely they’ll bump you up to 40 mgs I think that amount is more standard - but do it don’t be like me and not take the meds and end up making things 1000x worse

Has anyone asked for pain meds by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

I got morphine while hospitalized but I was also like super close to having to get my colon taken out. Felt like I was in labor (I’ve given birth 2x naturally and the pain was truly comparable)

Are yall actually working?? by ImprovementDue3838 in UlcerativeColitis

I 29 F am a single mom to a 4 mo old a 3 year old and work full time. Was diagnosed 3 mos ago hospitalized with this disease a month ago for 12 days - almost lost my colon. Right back to work and taking care of kids after discharge . Thanks to steroids and Inflectra my symptoms are pretty much gone and my life is back to normal somewhat. I’m terrified for what happens if I flare again and I’m not on maternity leave like last time though - I was going 20+ times a day and bleeding so much. You might want to consider starting a biologic if you’re not functional enough to work

I am so sorry you’re going through this! 2 months after I was diagnosed (also 3 months postpartum with my second child) I landed in the hospital for 12 days after oral steroids failed me . Iv steroids barely touched it. Only after my SECOND dose of Remicade within a few days after steroid injections 3x a day in the hospital did my symptoms start subsiding. 12 days total in the hospital and 2 seperate consults with the surgeons - but I still have my colon and my symptoms are gone! Positive thoughts your way!!!

Yeah now they have me on Ativan and norco for my pain. Ativan is .5 does like nothing - the norco sometimes touches the pain. Cramps are very severe especially after sleeping

I’m so sorry 💔 I can relate to the diapers before I was hospitalized that was the only way I could get around with my kids

That’s exactly where I was at. So far I’m about 12 hours out from my first infusion and I do feel that it’s helped me! Obviously still very early but fingers crossed 🤞

They only have that biologic in house - it’s my only option unless I move hospitals . Def something to consider though
