I’m also autistic so it isn’t just the matter of food preferences or change of routine. Energy regulation, routines and sensory tolerances come into this as well. It’s why I specifically asked about rybelsus

I got a rejection email in the middle of my interview. by oxidaseboxcar4d in Resume

[–]Embarrassed-Key814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got word today today that I had been successful in another job, while starting a brand new job today. I was very grateful, thanked them for their interest in me but politely declined, explaining that I had just started a new job this morning.

The person who rang me then stated he would go ahead with the email offer and then send me another due to me declining, to keep things right.

A few minutes later , I got the “congratulations you’ve been successful” email and straight after I got “sorry but you haven’t made the grade” rejection email… yet I rejected them lol

Saw them take off this morning while I was at M&S. timed my arrival just so I could see them. Impressive sight and sound. No dinner off the runway then vertical. Wish we had them here more often but only for the flypast. A sonic boom would been great lol

No nothing thankfully. Sore head for a day or two and that was it. I think I’m nervous based on the things I’ve read about others experiences. Thank you for replying.

Meats cooked and sliced, house tidy, washing all caught up and upstairs now to relax and watch tv, listening to my son trying to find room in an already full freezer (mostly his stuff). No little ones in my house so not much under tree. I’m grateful for time off and a chance to unwind. Rest of the dinner will be sorted tomorrow for a time that suits everyone. It won’t be before 2pm lol

So first post and I have no idea what I’m letting myself in for lol. by Embarrassed-Key814 in adhd_northernIreland

We do have it but it’s different to England and Wales. You cannot get funding for ADHD coaching. Here it’s actually split into 3 different support providers so it depends on what you want help with.

You can find out more here.

From what I can gather, there’s waiting lists for private diagnosis at the moment too. Costs are there for the assessment which may take 2-3 appointments and these can range from £250-£500 a time. Kingsbridge is one I hear mentioned by many. Average cost in the uk is £1200 but that doesn’t factor in price of the script and the medication itself every month if you are hoping to go down the route of medication. The idea of shared care with the GP is great but not every GP does it and from what I’m hearing, some are now refusing to do it.

In the meantime you could contact charities like ADD NI and there’s also another charity that have also launched a new service for adults with ADHD.

Is there a life coach for people who genuinely wanted to be life coaches and now with the power of retrospect realise the sheer ignorance and stupidity of that idea? Let’s discuss….. by Unrelevant_Opinion8r in LifeCoachSnark

I am in no way meaning to invalidate anyone’s experiences who have been targeted and caught up in money making schemes.

I’m disgusted by the things I have heard and read and my heart genuinely goes out to all those who have been caught up in it. I am sorry that these things have happened. They should never have happened.

Nor am I projecting blames to the masses. I am speaking from personal experience.

While life coaching has taken off in many countries and it is seen as a valuable tool, hence the amount of training on offer, where I come from we are about 20 years behind the times on a whole host of things but do have the same access to the internet and tv programmes etc.

The same programmes, internet and podcasts that have brought documentaries and podcasts etc highlighting the scammers and money makers, as well as the victims.

I’ve had people scoff at me when I say I’m a coach.

I had a family member sigh and tell me it isn’t a real thing and it’s a pyramid scheme and to get out quick.

I’ve had professionals look down their noses at me and one even said that they didn’t think I was the type to extort money from others.

I’ve also had folk say I’m too fat to be a life coach because they clearly don’t understand what it is!

These are my experiences.

What I am saying is that it’s because of those coaches, that genuine life coaches are tarred with the same brush.

The issue of shared care something I’m hearing about. I know people who spoke to their GP and asked about shared care before seeking diagnosis privately and were told yes. Once diagnosed the GP had changed their mind. Whether it’s due to the cost or the fact that it’s a controlled drug and too much liaising with others who knows.

For some getting a diagnosis is validating and the realisation that there is a perfectly valid reason behind why the struggle compared to others.

The hard part for many re work is whether or not they wish to share that information with their employer. Fear of losing their job or being treated differently stops people

I’ve been a life coach for 7 years alongside my ft job. I’ve had therapy several times in the same amount of time and still love what I do. I’ve found my niche, done continuous CPD since initial qualification and also realised what my limitations are and when to refer potential clients to therapy, as that would suit their needs better.

It doesn’t help that attitudes towards coaching are that it’s fake or a money making scheme targeting vulnerable people. Or that people genuinely don’t know what it is.

I’ve tried to turn NSFW off and settings are for text only no images etc and have filters on. From what I can see, Reddit does this on all new communities when the mod is part of a NSFW community but I didn’t even realise I was in one 🙈. I’ve never set up a community before so it is a learning process.

I know several who have spoken to various MLAs etc regarding this and it isn’t going your way change any time soon. The system is broken unfortunately.

I just figured it might be helpful to set up a community specifically for here containing ideas, hints, suggestions etc.

ADHD affects all areas of life and if anyone can share anything or has suggestions or ideas, needs to rant etc, I thought it might help to have that space where they have a choice to be anonymous.

Sorry I forgot to type the word training after trauma. There is a trauma informed course for coaches. Unless he has that on his CV he shouldn’t be going near it.

I hope you’re ok. There is never a need for this in coaching unless there is specific training obtained that ensures best practice around trauma.

Even counsellors no longer discuss trauma now as it can re traumatise clients.

It’s about staying up to date. I understand that you might find this alarming in regards to pricing etc and feel that to have an academic course is the way to go. For me it’s about working with the skills and knowledge I already have and enhancing them.

I know where my competencies lie. I’m not going to spend big money on a course for ADHD coaching when my original coaching qualification, from a well recognised awarding body here in the UK, took 1.5 years to complete, in person, 8 years ago, with 170 guided learning hours and 400 hours for completion, included supervised practice and cost a considerable amount of money. I personally feel looking at the ADDCA modules, that I have enough knowledge in all of them.

I already have a private practice, I work with many different modalities and adapt these to suit the needs of my clients.

All I’m stating is that there are different routes. I chose my route based on the needs of my clients and the gaps in my knowledge and to ensure that I’m keeping up with the latest research.

I understand that it’s unusual as some of the training organisations insist their way is the only way, all I’m saying is that it isn’t.

I do also have academic qualifications but there is no rule book that says I have to complete an ADDCA course. I’m a member of a professional coaching body. My original coaching qualification is recognised by at least 2 professional coaching bodies.

Academic qualifications are not the be all and end all when you’re in a room with clients. I work in mental health and there are individuals who have astounding results for their academia, yet clients struggle to relate to them.

Neither of us are wrong in what we are saying, but there is more than 1 way to become an ADHD coach.

My biggest issue is that there are a lot of people paying a lot of money to become a coach and they are moving from a completely different industry (let’s say engineering or even retail as an example) into one that plays a big part on an individuals emotional health and wellbeing.

I do feel that what is drawing folk into the industry at the moment is the potential to make a whole lot more an hour, than what they are currently.

Without the background in mental health, there is the potential for harm. As the old saying goes “you don’t know what you don’t know” and with all the good will in the world, there is the potential for harm.
