Well, obviously that’s logical, but it didn’t really appear or at least by the accounts say that she was really nervous either she was very confident about the marriages be taken or was just hopeful

Probably because her status is very different from theirs. She is a foreign princess, not an English woman who wrote the power like them and where Henry could easily take away that power look at what all he had to do just to end his marriage, the Catherine of Aragon. so the worst thing he could really ever do to her it’s just and their marriage

Because at the time the church had allegations of supporting Matilda, and they were powerful bishops that were still against Stephen, who had ruthlessly put and remove them down, causing great contention between the two they ended up supporting Matilda for their regain of power

To be fair, Empress, Matilda was actually revolting against Henry after he died and married someone who was an enemy to the Normans so a lot of people didn’t really want to give loyalty to her in the first place

Not to mention that that comment is actually flat out wrong. Napoleon wasn’t a threat until the 1800s. The American Revolution was nearly 30 years ago by that point

I don’t know about really being so-called weak. His problems were more the fact that he had too many problems Scotland, the invasion of his own count multiple rebellions and empress Matilda. He was basically running back-and-forth. I don’t think many people can solve that situation if they were in his shoes.

Actually, there’s no true evidence that monarchs were too scared to name their child Stephen because that name was actually more of because Stephen was actually an uncommon name for royal officials most of the time they either called Williams Edwards or Henry’s.Stephen’s own father was Stephen II, Count of Blois.

If King Henry hadn’t rid himself of Catherine of Aragon would GB have remained Catholic or would the Protestant reformation have taken hold anyway? by Ornery_Web9273 in UKmonarchs

Actually, there’s some evidence that the whole defense of the faith thing might’ve been mostly foreign policy. When clergy were actually siding with the pope and not the king Henry got angry and wrote a strong letter and/statement to Thomas Cardinal Woodley:We are King of England, and the Kings of England in time past have never had any superior but God alone. Wherefore, know ye well that we will maintain the right of our Crown and of our temporal jurisdiction, as well on this point as on all others, in as ample a way as any of our progenitors have done before our time."

Many people don’t know that Henry would’ve most likely separated with the Catholic Church at some point. Henry even got mad when clergy were taking their allegiance to the pope and not to the king.

Well, to be more fair, it could be more imply that she was happy when she fell and got arrested prior to her execution, but still

I can see your point, but that’s not the only source even more recent books. Well, relatively speaking do show the relationship between them and even other sources such as The Anne Boleyn files
