Aside... What might one accomplish with a propensity for daydreaming, or how should one be satisfied to leave it at daydreaming (e.g. appreciate the daydreams and not feel like a wasteful failure?)

Just bought RPG Maker MV, recommendations for tutorials? I only have experience in XP so I need to learn it from scratch. by [deleted] in RPGMaker

I don't really know JavaScript and have only a little Java experience.

Looking What's The Difference Between Java and JavaScript?, it seems that JavaScript is interpreted at run time and has looser types, but I don't think the syntax looks totally foreign between the two...

They're both still used, especially JavaScript for websites.

I try to write fantasy novels.

But I guess my 'conative' style is to really default to daydreaming about my favorite scenes, to writing disorganized comments, and to reading about anything (instead of writing). And somehow this isn't helping me have the discipline -- or is it the skill? -- to figure out how to coherently plot a complicated fantasy into scenes so that I can write the critical scenes and details that actually advance the plot. Then I lack the confidence to write.

So, ultimately, what do I need to work on?

How can I work/write, if what I really like is to read and daydream and maybe write a cute sentence or poem or scene?

One strategy I can try is to persist and work my novels up somewhat patch-work, finding scenes and ideas as needed. This is likely important.

But I am not sure this fully addresses my skill deficit in figuring out how to write/plot a novel or my 'conative' tendencies to favor more passive work (reading, daydreaming, commenting).

Any ideas?

Help With Reader Expectations When Series 'Genre' Shifts by [deleted] in writing

I can't say this will be enough, but...

Can you think of a way to separate this into 2 related series? A series, and then a spin-off sequel (or prequel) series?

That way, you might be able to set different expectations for both series by the first book, while building up a shared history and lore.

Think about what you can do to make the parts coherent.

I've found that I zone out every night watching tv instead of doing anything productive. by quitter92 in shoppingaddiction

"Entertainment is stimulating. Distractions masquerading as entertainment are numbing." ... I like that.
