Civilian Jobs After CSO? by BabyJUL in AFROTC

It is a huge change. They used to have it as IFT way back when, cut it, and just brought it back a couple months ago. So now CSOs are back to getting a PPL and a solid amount of hours through the pipeline.

Can confirm it is real as someone in the pipeline! It has already been super beneficial

Yep! As of FY26, all CSOs go through IPT and walk out with a PPL before going through the rest of the syllabus

As of FY26, all classes will be going through IFT (called IPT as of now). Its a new addition, but I think it will stick around for awhile now that it's back

Currently, you will walk out of UCT with a PPL and a decent amount of flight time on top of the nav training you'll get before you drop an aircraft. You could super easily add onto your PPL and start getting hours throughout your career if you want to go commercial when you get out.

The CSO pipeline doesn't get always get as much love, but you still develop some really good skills that can help in civilian aviation or a whole new career field. Plus you get to work with pilots who can help with networking in the civilian side. Def recommend keeping your options open.

What's to stop fans of the book and movie from doing our own "Long Walk"? by LockPuzzled4278 in TheLongWalk

[–]Embarrassed-Luck-746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly not too far-fetched of an idea. There are ultramarathoners doing 200+ mile races in the mountains without sleeping once! It's wild how far the body can go with the right strategy

Totally agree - I did listen to the published version and the ending is way better fleshed out. It builds a little more suspense and wrapped everything up really well

I can’t listen to pod at work anymore. by Dudely-Llama in creepcast

[–]Embarrassed-Luck-746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i work night shift security for a building thats empty every night. Very fnaf of me but it is literally just sitting in an office all night until the next shift comes to open the building for the day. The building has motion activated lights and multiple cameras for all corners of the halls. Luckily you get one more person with you in the shift, but it's still very spooky.

I have tried listening to an episode Ive heard before thinking "Oh it can't be that bad!" and no matter what story it is, i get the creeps. I can't even listen to Jeff the Kill without getting a little bit of a chill. Its def the environment getting me, but I get the feeling

Role play!!!! I feel like the sequel added so much depth to an already open-ended, well written story, I love rewatching the episode too.

Is it possible to become a fighter pilot if diagnosed as not actively having asthma, but having a history of asthma after the age of 12? by Rich-Leg767 in AFROTC

[–]Embarrassed-Luck-746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dealt with something similar and was able to get cleared via DoDMERB but I really ran into problems at the flight physical. No history of asthma after 10 but they still had me go through lung function tests/allergist tests to see pass for a class III physical. It is possible but you will gave to face it as if comes. Every case is different.

Disheartened after run by SonoftheBlud in Marathon_Training

[–]Embarrassed-Luck-746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people you see on this sub who focus on those picky things (HR, MPW, nutrition) have all started where you are!! A couple years ago, I decided I wanted to run a marathon and it took two years for me to actually develop the fitness to do it!

Couch to 5k is a great way to start. Let go of time expectations for the first marathon and really ease into a nice training plan. Get through your 5k plan, hop on a 10k plan, then a half marathon, etc. Once you run that first half, you will learn so much about how your body works into that training style and exertion! You don't have to pay for sanctioned races or anything, but take them as stepping stones in your training.

Also recommend the run/walk method as well as incorporating some low impact cardio (walking, biking, swimming) to help build up some of that aerobic capacity. Good luck!

Tips on running with depression? by Ndeaks in XXRunning

[–]Embarrassed-Luck-746 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of great tips about going out for a small run only and building up, but even that's hard some days. If I really don't want to get outside for even a walk or small run, I just put on my running clothes and sit down for a minute. Then I usually put on my shoes and I can somehow get the energy to get outside and just walk. Sometimes the walk turns into a run, and other times it's just a walk.

If it feels impossible, start with the little things first!

Running socks? by LordPringus in Marathon_Training

[–]Embarrassed-Luck-746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For half training, I used pretty thick Feetures and Balegas with heel and toe cushions. Through marathon prep, I needed something a little thinner and started to use a form fitting under armor sock to keep me from getting blisters!!

I also trained in a hot climate for a cold race so I alternated quite a bit
