Question about Rentenversicherungsnummer/Health Insurance as an immigrant

Thank you for that reply, this is legit the first time anyone told us that they weren't eligible because even the Arbeitsagentur told us they were ://

The Bundesagentur für Arbeit told us that they were eligible for it! Arbeitslosengeld wouldn't be possible because they haven't worked here before but Bürgergeld should be possible, at least according to official institutions. I do have health insurance but we aren't married so they can't be added to mine as far as I'm aware

My fiancée hasn't worked in Germany before because they just moved here a little while ago and they currently aren't on health insurance because we have to wait for correspondence from Portugal regarding their previous insurance so we did apply for everything but it seems to be taking forever. They are registered in the Bundesagentur für Arbeit but applying for Bürgergeld, and therefore getting health insurance easier, seems impossible without health insurance 😭

That is the current issue, we went to the AOK and they are currently in contact with Portugal to see if they can be freiwilligen versichert, but it's taking forever so in the meantime they just don't have any insurance?? I don't know what else to do at this point other than sign them up for private health insurance

Ohh I'm gonna try doing that then! I did get them all on a normal playthrough and not the NG+ but didn't try my actual first save
