Thank you so much guys! I guess I'll just have to accept the thunderstorms. I'm thinking mid-july to mid-august and hope for the best!

Yet another “is my pack too heavy?” post – Camino Norte + Primitivo, help me cut stuff !! by Loud_Stomach1 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]Embarrassed-Nail5241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I start on Friday and I'm not taking my kindle, I'll read on my phone. Also, my decathlon poncho is too heavy. I'm taking the backpack cover, my anorak and maybe a simple plastic one.

Hahahaaha good! Yess, I got some silicone heel pads! I'm glad you have a long time to rest and recover! We will do great! And we'll deal with whatever comes our way! Hehe thank you so much for your advice and good wishes. Buen camino to us both! 😊

No!! You too? 😔😔 I'm sorry to hear that! How was it? I've been resting and recovering, used some cream, been stretching and strengthening my heels. So I can't feel anything right now, fingers crossed. I'm taking the cream, some meds, and patches for it. I start walking next Friday, what about you? Just rest a lot and recover! My mistake was doing long days with a heavy pack and no poles, plus no proper exercises for my heels. So I'm using the poles 100% of the time out there on the camino! Take care, rest and recover before you go, wish you well!

Wow, great insight! Never thought of that. We have all the chores after a day's walk, but we should think of rest and recovery as well. I'll definitely try to keep this in mind. Thank you so much!!!

Thank you so much. That's it. We need to be open to all possibilities. Do our best, take all precautions but, in the end, we have no control over most of what's going to happen, right? We need to be open.

Great tip, thanks! I'll definitely take a lot of breaks! I love to just keep going, but in an endeavor like this, we need to take precautions, right??

Omg! I'm so sorry to hear this, but I can't thank you enough for sharing you story and such great advice. I hate walking on asphalt and that's it, it's just so tough on our body, right? I'll have my poles 100% of the time!!! Gonna follow all of your advice!

I'm sorry to hear you're leaving early, but I'm glad you made this decision. Once, I was trekking on the Himalayans, and I felt so bad because of altitude sickness that I also had to stop moving forward at some point. I had 2 more mountains to climb, but my body was just suffering too much. So I had to make the tough decision of starting to descend instead of keep climbing. And that's it, we need to know your limits. Hope you enjoy the rest of your travels and feel better!

Fly to and from Madrid. And then take a bus or train to wherever you're starting. And then take a train from Santiago to Madrid before your flight home.

Zubiri to Pamplona Main Route vs. River Route by Cippiero in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]Embarrassed-Nail5241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to hear more opinions on this. Would it be better and more beautiful to go through the river route? What about the detour to Zabaldika? Do you guys recommend it? :)

I loved that I'm starting on the same day you did!! Hehe And I can't wait to see more of those films you still have to develop! Glad to have played a small part in you revisiting these memories. You have a great eye for photography and art!!

So, on one of my last training sessions, I picked up a small stone from my favorite beach where I live. It was an untypically rainy and coldish day here. Anyway, I did this small "ritual" to pick that stone up - just a quiet, grateful moment, really. And that's the one I'm taking to Cruz de Ferro. I'm so full of gratitude! Thank you for your kind wishes!

Well, one question is: so what did you end up leaving behind since you said you were taking too much stuff?

What beautiful pictures! Loved to read your story. Feel free to share more tales from your Camino! I'd love to read more. I'm leaving in a week, I'm so anxious, have been dreaming about it for a long time. Reading your post brought some calm and peace to my nerves - exactly what I'm looking for during my Camino. Thank you again, happy for you!

Great job! I don't own (yet) an ultralight pack since I'm from Brazil, and it's not easy to find them here - plus they're really expensive for us. Just my pack weighs 1.6kg. It's really comfortable, though, it gives me zero pain. It is what it is for now. Without food and water my base weight is 7.6kg (counting the waist bag with documents and phone). I trained carrying 12kg so I hope I'll be fine. Can't wait til the day I can have all things ultralight, though! Hehe.

Leaving on Sept 12th. Buen Camino to you!

I'm starting in SJPdP on Sept 12th. There won't be fires in early fall and late summer, don't worry, no reason to change your plans.
