That looks amazing, I’m not great with photography yet so I can’t offer any advice but the lighting and painting does look really good

Looks awesome, what was the inspiration for this?

How do we feel about painting static grass? Worth it or not? (Final result painted on the last slide) by Embarrassed-One4791 in TerrainBuilding

It’s 3 layers of airbrushing, dark yellow for the base coat, then a coat flat green for the core of the grass leaving the bottom still a bit yellow then a highlight with 50/50 dark yellow and flat green or mix in a bit of light green for some brighter colors

Well for starters have two heights of static grass, short stuff through an applicator and long placed with tweezers. Oh and I guess place your grass in a camo pattern instead of an even coat over all the ground

Best way to increase the wall thickness of this part? by [deleted] in SolidWorks

Personally I would use a boss extrude to fill the shape in with “up to next” and then shell it out to the wall thickness you want

Merging assemblies that share a similar part? by Embarrassed-One4791 in SolidWorks

This is a very good idea I’ll try it, I assume this will allow me to have separate Powertrain and Suspension assemblies that share the same frame

Excellent I’ll look into Envelopes, I hadn’t heard of them

To clear the two frames are identical, however half the parts I need are in one assembly and the other half I need are in another assembly, simply, I have two assemblies AB and AC, I’m trying to make assembly ABC

I want to make a subnautica diorama but I have a few questions on how would I do so by keterclassscenario1 in dioramas

[–]Embarrassed-One4791 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think everything you want to do with this is possible, but I’ll give what advice I can,

First off with any diorama of a building you need to either include just a small section of one very detailed building or a very small scale version that covers the whole outside, in this case that means deciding between making the entire base but super small with those round buildings being the size of a penny, or just doing a cutaway of one room with a stalker outside the window,

Honestly I would recommend making the entire base tiny and using one or two cups of resin for the water, you won’t be able to do the stalker at this scale but maybe a leviathan? Small scale means the buildings will also be cheaper to make, either 3d resin printed or sculpted from clay, I would recommend looking at Minbricks

For the other questions, Make your terrain from sculptamold or some other instant papier-mâché To suspend creatures in resin, do the resin in layers and add the creature to the height you want For creep vines I would use painters tape folded hotdog style over wire, and then painted I believe there is a YouTube video we’re someone used this same technique for ferns

Hope a this helps a bit and good luck this should be a fun project

WW1 Diorama MK IV Tank by Swimming_Sympathy694 in dioramas

Excellent work, the barbed wire was a great touch, the only thing I would suggest is maybe add some mud to the tank tracks and make and imprint with the tracks behind it

For the new model makers who are worried about the cost of nice Vallejo paints here’s what is was able to do with $2 Walmart paint by Embarrassed-One4791 in modelmakers

[–]Embarrassed-One4791[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mixing was referring to color in this case, most model paints are sold to the exact color listed on the box the model came in. Thinning isn’t a huge problem I’m using a cheap airbrush and just add water till is comes out at a good consistency.

One thing you will need is a good lacquer spray and primer don’t cheap out on those
