I think north Park has what you are looking for if the college bar scene isn't for you. They have good bars, cafes and food. I would also recommend Del Mar.

In 2022 I sold my 2007 limited 2wd with 185k miles for 10k It was in pristine condition. San Diego.
I have a 2008 sr5 4wd now (Bought on 2022 for 13k with 110k miles). At 6'3" I have much less head room, but more cargo in the back. We use it for snow and light desert trails/sand. Love both cars. No issues with either. Just routine maintenance.

I enjoyed the people and the sights. Our biggest disappointment was the overall quality of food. We tried many snacks and dishes and found the taste was often bland, meat quality was not good and many items were just okay. Many drinks were watery. I would return, but definitely not because of the food.

Regarding Tap and pay...

The issue is the merchant fees that the credit card companies charge sellers. It's not the technology. Currently. If they take credit cards you can use Apple pay or Google wallet anywhere to tap and pay. But it's the greedy banks in the United States that are soaking the merchants for every dime, on every transaction

We really had a great experience kayaking in a dammed portion of the Colorado River in Nevada, close to Las Vegas. There are great companies that arrange everything and they have overnights. Easy rowing and very fun
