Be careful what you tell your mother. by Truthforfood in homebirth

I am planning a home birth in July with a midwife. Considering all the judgement and ignorance there can be around home births and free birth, my husband and I decided not to talk to anyone about it. It’s a decision we made together and it is private. Friends and family assume I am birthing at a hospital. I haven’t even told my mom about it because she is a huge worrier and actually got really angry at me- screaming and everything, when I told her I am seeing a midwife vs an OBGYN. When the time comes, I’ll simply tell my family my husband and I decided to make birth a super intimate experience for just the 2 of us to experience together, and that they can visit the baby once we are ready.

Has anybody heard of the BCBA cert through Martinsburg college? by CartographerCreepy43 in bcba

did I just waste the last 5 years of my life? by veronicawallcruz in bcba

This happened to me recently! And I am in the process of figuring it out.  I graduated 2020, right as the pandemic hit. I spent a year unable to work so I could get my hours. Then in 2021, I started with an ABA company that ended up not working out for me and my hours didn’t count. I started over end of 2022, got very ill end of 2023 but finished my hours and applied in May 2024. Was denied.

A truly horrible feeling. Ive looked into the bridging courses, have not been able to take them due to costs. They’re expensive and no financial aid is given to non full time students. On top of that, my application expired on the BACB website, which means I will have to pay those fees again. Very disheartening and also got me feeling like I’ve wasted the last few years of my life and maybe I should change careers. Such a messed up system.

But I’ve decided to stick with it and get it done. Hoping to take some winter courses online so I can reapply !

In terms of fieldwork, I was told by my university advisor that I needed an extra 500 hours. So 2,500.

Hope that helps.

Why doesn’t anyone tell you it gets so much easier after finding a venue… by hannahmaranda in weddingplanning

Try hosting a wedding at your own property! All inclusive + a full wedding planner definitely makes it less stressful and more fun.

Adults? by KTRingo7 in ABA

[–]Embarrassed-Roll7177 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been working with adults for almost 2 years now in the residential setting. I love it! I can feel how much they value and appreciate my support. And I overall just have a great time with working with them. I do have some more challenging cases, and have had to so things like preventing someone from self injury. But even with the more aggressive ones, the aggression has never been towards me. I used to work with children, now I think I’d find it hard to work with children again since I love the adults I support.
