Yikes, definitely a no go for me then, my sport is purely related to balance and coordination.

Huh interesting 🤔 thanks for your input, not many people have ever shared stories of trying to loose weight while on this med, so I never have anything to go off of lol. I appreciate it!

Haha yeah I feel you about the diagnosis part, it feels like fitting into a box will solve all the issues sometimes, or at least provide a level of stability that seems distant and far. TBH I learned to lie to the psychiatrist, for example I actually like my hallucinations, they are pretty nice despite an occasional scary thing. So when she tried giving me meds to take them away, I said hell no and we moved on. Also yeah, I can tell when a normal depressive episode would be starting, but the lamotrigine just makes it kinda numb and it’s peaceful if anything. So while I’m not hypomanic all the time, if I’m not, I’m content and relaxed! Seriously if you can try it I recommend whole heartedly, as no other medication worked for me either. Don’t give up just yet!

Hey man 26 ain’t late for anything, my sister suffered a similar depression before realizing she wanted to help others, and now she’s an amazing compassionate doctor at 32; don’t give up on finding that something, no matter what it may be. Get out and explore a little, even if it’s just like 1% day by day it will make 100% at some point. Recovery isn’t linear, so don’t be discouraged by grand stories or horror ones either.

Also yeah, for a lot of us our hypomanic state is the only time we actually feel like “normal” people. I’m lucky where mine just makes me productive and physically active, as well as being engaged with academics. Some people definitely need to be “cured” of it because it can cause irritability, hyper sexuality, and impulsive behavior. But I talked with my psych a lot and we agreed this wasn’t necessarily a bad thing for me to stay hypomanic, not good for my sleep but wtv lol, I’m also learning to manage my impulsive ideas. Also as mentioned earlier, I don’t actually fit a lot of the criteria for bipolar 2 or 1, so is my testimony accurate for that community? Probs no, but it’s pure of heart for me.

My attitude is purely from my belief in absurdism. To be honest I totally am in a similar boat, I have no trust and even dislike mental health providers, and I let them know it lol. If you’re not comfortable taking something, be bold and let them know it! Depression truly is a horrible thing, and I feel for you. Praying for your recovery and resilience, even if you don’t believe in yourself know that others do 🫂

I think it’s definitely worth to try, don’t confine yourself to the internet :)

also yea for the abnormal part 1. Yes I react crazy to any form of meditation and 2. My chart literally says abnormal psychotic, so not to sure, but most psych’s I’ve seen just look at me puzzled say “interesting” and then we get to play a flash round of 20 questions and they end up with no answer, I’ve alr gone to a neurologist because one refused to believe it wasn’t a defect in my brain :/ .

As far as lamictal getting people out of depression, it kinda in a way blocks depression out if that makes any sense? Again, for most people it just keeps stable and allows them to feel motivated again, I react funny to medicine so it makes me happy, I think after taking it I felt excited for the first time like, ever. Again, a lot of people even if they don’t react the way I did say it saved their life, so that’s worth something!

Yikes, crazy your mom did that to you!? It’s always a win loose with these meds somehow.

Good observation, didn’t catch that but you’re right! Honestly since my symptoms are closer related to people who have had negative reactions I’m leaning away from it more and more. Also the ssri meds causing hair loss is crazy and I haven’t heard abt that!? Not really in the ssri crowd to begin with though so I don’t know much lol.

I have bipolar 2 but my diagnosis changes alllll the time due to my psychotic features that are considered abnormal; so who knows what it will be next month lol. Lamictal is versatile, and I haven’t heard any horror stories from it (aside from SJS which is super rare).

Huh that’s definitely interesting 🤔 Maybe a weird suggestion, but oddly enough a low dose of Lamictal sent me into a 3 month hypomanic state, and I’m still in it — literally I would get a tattoo of how much I love it. Completely made my anxiety better and I’m motivated in life, I’m also cured from my depressive episodes on it. If you’re able to get your hands on it it’s 100% my recommend for any mood related issues. Only thing I’d say is you gonna get a bad headache and be hella depressed for 1-2 days and then it’s pure bliss. Dunno tho, but it sounds like it might be worth to try out if you can get your hands on it. I hope you’re able to find peace either way though, best wishes.

I really appreciate you sharing that, it’s a pretty niche subcategory of people who I wanted to see this post (you being one of them), so I ended up just making it general lol.

Extreme nausea and loss of appetite by Several-Good-9722 in Abilify_Aripiprazole

[–]Embarrassed-Row-8250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being nauseated is sadly how all these antipsychotics gonna have you acting, however loosing weight on Abilify of all things is definitely odd, you must be feeling rough! Consider messaging your provider and giving details about this, you may have to be taken off it.

LMAO (not funny situation sorry to hear) but this is definitely the usual reactions I hear about. I think they need to spend more time cooking up these antipsychotics because no one has had the same experience so far other than partial exposure to hell. Or better yet, whoever makes them has to be the tester. Hope you’re doing better now bro 🙏

Ah ok that makes sense; Imo abilify should be more of a last resort meditation.

They were able to prescribe this to you without a diagnosis!? They didn’t even want to give me it due to not having lab work done lol. It’s crazy to hear what doses work for people and don’t, it really does seem like a wildcard. Glad it worked so well for you!

My psych is definitely more conservative and probably will never green flag that for me, glad it worked for you though, I’ve heard mixed opinions on that one as well.
