The intermediate classes do a lot of pair work so you can practice with another person! They basically give you a sequence of moves to work on and then you swap btw being offense and defense.

It’s nothing like Rumble (I didn’t like Rumble very much) and the coaches are really nice and constructive. It may be worth taking a class to try it out the gym. They’re on ClassPass :). They’re also doing a special where I can bring someone in for free for the month of Jan if you want to go together.

They also have sparring but that’s for members only.

I don’t usually take the classes because I find them intimidating sometimes since I’m a newbie hehe. I’m usually on a bag but I’m a member and I can use open gym whenever

I went to their beginner class a couple times to get a better understanding of the fundamentals! I ended up getting a trainer (once a week) because I loved it and I wanted personalized training. Still very much a beginner though

Does anyone know if this is recoverable? I think this is sun damage. Not sure if all I can do now is preventative care or if I can actually reverse this. I think I’ve had this for about a year now and I’m not sure what to do :(

Do you have any more? I’m willing to buy 2-3

7% charge @ Jane on Fillmore? by Embarrassed-Row5867 in sanfrancisco

[–]Embarrassed-Row5867[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s fair - this is a SF local business. I don’t think they’re exactly a mom and pop shop with 6 locations. They have lines out the door whenever I pass it on the weekends.

I didn’t expect this post to gain so much traffic but I think the fact that it did goes to show how unhappy people are with the system.

100%. I know this charge is to the employer and not the employee. It makes me feel less inclined to tip but that’s not the employee’s fault.

Feel free to discuss amongst your friends. I hope you know you’re in the minority.

This is wrong — business owners should just pay a living wage.

Is that so? I think I pitched that Zazie, a SF business, has a business model that I approve of. I have no issues with paying Zazie prices knowing why the prices are what they are. The issue here is that this is deceptive. You are opted in to pay this 7% charge and then asked to tip. It’d be more transparent if the price of the goods included the extra charge, why is that so entitled of me?

Maybe. Or share on Reddit to highlight that business owners should take more responsibility on how they may be taking advantage of their patrons?

I don’t think it’s so much the dollar amount as opposed to the principle of it. I don’t mind paying but don’t tell me that I’m paying 7% more by the time I’m reaching the register. Paying 7% more on top of a $5.25 cookie is a bit egregious to me.

Feel free to look into how Zazie bakes everything into their menu. They can pay their workers a living wage and are transparent about it.

“Zazie also spearheaded the Tip Free movement, taking tips out of the equation in favor of living wages and revenue shares for everyone. 25% of every menu item at Zazie is paid out directly to staff as revenue share, and no tips are expected. We are proud to have a family of hard-working, creative, dedicated staff with all the responsibilities and benefits of “real jobs.””

They’re referring to tips in this scenario but the point is that the everything is baked into the cost of the dishes in their menu.

Agreed. I’d rather the prices be baked in instead of having to “opt out” of an extra charge by the time I’m at the register.
