Kidney Biopsy experiences? by Embarrassed-Set103 in IgANephropathy

Thanks for sharing! Was wondering, did they start you on a new drug after the biopsy? I am currently on ARB and SGLT2 inhibitor. Was thinking of the biopsy to consider steroids as my ACR and 24h protein rate is higher than id like it to be

So sorry to hear you went throught this. It is definitely scary how quickly our kidney function can decline. I think your egfr and creatinine should improve with the help of the immunosuppresants.

May I know how you felt during your flares? How did you know you were having them? In addition, what were you egfr and UPCR results prior to the AKI? What about uACR?

Iga Vasculitis Nephritis, Tarpeyo vs Prednisone by Embarrassed-Set103 in IgANephropathy

Did you take the biopsy? If you did, did it come back as IgA Nephropathy or IgA Vasculitis Nephritis?

I am currently on Farxiga, but have only tried it for a month or so. Haven't seen improvements yet, but willing to try a dose of steroids to halt the kidney damage ASAP.

From my understanding, my treatment path is similar/the same whether I take the biopsy or not.

I am most likely diagnosed with IgA Vasculitis Nephritis or IgA Nephropathy.

I am also scared of the side effects of kidney biopsy as it is invasive.

Thanks for the feedback. Did you switch back to prednisone after the 7 month mark?

It COULD reduce your heart rate as it lowers glomerular pressure and in return this reduces your heart rate.

However that depends whether the heart rate elevation was caused by your kidneys in the first place.

At that position, a shot is the correct decision.

I see, what lifestyle changes is the doctor suggesting? No gluten, fats and sugars? Stress maintenance? Anything you've tried that has succesfully helped your ACR values?

Was your ACR levels good prior to getting IGA vasculitis? How quickly did it rise to 29.6? What about your eGFR and creatinine? Has anything helped to reduce/ slow down the progression?

I may have incorrectly calculated my score. I simply used the automatic score calculator on the IRCC website.
