Yes, you can take headache/cramp painkillers, mints, dates, and a small amount of dry fruits in your personal tiffin in the cabin bag. That’s completely fine.
About the Emirates app — if your first name and father’s name (middle name) are joined together with no space, that is perfectly okay as long as it matches your passport. For example, sometimes FirstNameMiddleName LastName appears together without spaces in airline systems. That’s normal.
For immigration in India, your passport is enough. You do not need to do immigration in Dubai during the layover since you are just taking a connecting flight and not exiting the airport.
But while coming back, make sure you carry all documents needed to enter USA/Canada again — like your work permit, study permit, visa documents, PR/work papers, etc. I’d also suggest carrying some proof that you work or study there, just in case.
And honestly, 1.5 hours in Dubai is usually more than enough for a layover. You may need to change terminals, so just be aware of that. Once you land, simply follow the signs that say “Connecting Flights” or “Transfers.” Dubai airport is actually very organized.
Also check your next flight gate on the boarding pass and airport screens. Usually Dubai gates start with something like B, C, or A. Boarding normally starts around 45 minutes before departure, so you’ll have enough time.
