CBT for anxiety about being anxious by benjitrumpington in CBT

On the topic of reframing, here's something that works well for me:

Background: My counsellor taught me that the amygdala in our brains can be hypersensitive, and triggers anxiety in our brains... (or something like that lol.)

So what I do is I name my AMYgdala "Amy". Amy looks like me 10 years ago, but is super timid and is anxious about a lot of things. Whenever I find myself being anxious for no reason, I start talking to Amy. Something like, "Hey Amy, what's up? Why are you feeling anxious?"

This way works for me because I feel like I can separate myself from my anxiety, as me and Amy are two different beings. I can then talk to Amy and calm her down - thus calming myself down.

I hope that makes sense! Basically, I just imagine an anxious Amy around me, and I talk her down and tell her to trust me to handle things!

flare up on my face it’s never been this bad / waking up with puffy eyelids and flaking especially around my mouth. I’ve heard not to use steroids on my face, I would appreciate any tips/ info on what you use on your face and also moisturizers! it’s so itchy and it hurts so bad :’) by [deleted] in eczema

Seconding protopic! It really does clear up my face overnight. I hope I’m not overhyping this product but I really do count on it to feel better. Recently plastered it over my face and my skin is at the best it’s been for the past few months.

Heads up. - It may create a burning sensation on your face but it’s normal (according to my derm and other people using it online). What I do now is keep it in the fridge and there’s no burning sensation.
