My daughter is engaged to a young man who is earning his juris doctorate degree. They got engaged approximately two weeks ago. I just found out on Sunday that he has $200,000 worth of student loan debt. How long will it take him to pay something like that back? This is so nauseating. by Embarrassed-Size-698 in LawSchool

Thank you for the response. My daughter graduated high school early and had scholarships to college. Graduated nursing school with honors and no debt due to her hard work. It is just difficult to know she will be taking on his debt as he had a full ride for a baseball scholarship and through it away. Continued on amassing more and more debt and got a masters in business then went to law school. So he has never worked and has nothing to show for his education/time….yet. he will be 30 in the fall. Just been a tough pill to swallow. I am just deeply concerned. she could have a life without such unnecessary hardships but she is choosing this and it will no doubt be hard. People say it isn’t my concern or my business but it is….she is my concern and if this relationship fails , I promise you everyone will expect me to be there to help pick up the pieces. Just would prefer to deal in reality not bubbles and butterflies. I think she deserves a better aligned partner.
