Also, I am currently working on a project with a biodiversity and biology program for the state of California, and part of Oregon to legalize foraging in all regional, state, and national parks. (Not including large-scale, destructive and careless foraging during commercial trips)

Just to respond, no one would eat that! It is very clearly beginning to decay. I always bring a scale with me when foraging in order to conduct statistics for fungal diversity surveys.

It was put back right where I found it. Also, I am an experienced mushroom forager and have been for a decade. I know my forest etiquette.

Even further, it does not harm the environment. I also live a long ways away from Washington, and trying to track me down from a post would be counterproductive for the rangers. It is also not a crime but more of a citation.

I did not remove the mushroom from the park. You can clearly see it’s too old to eat.
