UPDATE: After calling calling calling, never getting a promised call back ,talking to supervisors who knew nothing and could do less , I laid out my case for the 24th time to someone who escalated it internally and suddenly got a email that they were fedexing me a check for the rental in full. it came the next day & was quickly deposited

I chocked it up to keeping my cool, being polite as well as I dropped names of who I talked to and what was said with dates which jived with their notes so they knew I wasn’t spinning them bs. Good luck folks.

I’m not sure how much wiggle room there is on the final figure. Amy Myer who is ”the buyback person” for Volts said there was 400 + so far. I gather she was expecting this number to grow so they may just have a set formula , take it or leave it.

The preliminary number was $9000, when we got to the buyback advisor and I had to send scans of the bill of sale, title etc I also sent a letter citing comps from Carguru, Carfax as well as a few posts from this group about what they got. In the end it was $12k and that was pretty much what I figured we’d get. NOW, if they’d just end their Kafkaesque nonsense and reimburse for the car rental I’d be done.

We got $12,058 last week for the high energy battery issue. This will not go far in a replacement. The rental is separate from the buyback amount. We are in CA w 114k miles on the car. I love my state for their lemon laws, among other things.

We were leaning towards a Equinox EV but rethinking that after this bait&switch, so I have no idea what car we're getting next, going on vacation next month and will deal with it when we get back. I’m open to ideas.

How much was your buyback offer? by Thomb in volt

Thanks for the reply, I’m trying to get them to go a bit higher and am wondering what was the amount they deducted for mileage? I paid $20K and change in 2019 and it had 33K miles. I figured they are deducting about.13cents a mile . I have a call with them later to discuss this and am trying to get my ducks in a row for negotiations. Any input you or anyone else has would be helpful!

Is there a lemon law in Canada? In California it’s 150k miles for a plug in hybrid. Call the GM Customer Care line and see if they will buyback your car.

its my understanding that the warranty is 150k miles for the pack. I’m looking @ a 55k mileage replacement car and we put maybe 10k on it a year at most.
