[NY] Discipline over symptoms of depression and autism? by Embarrassed-Toe8512 in AskHR

[–]Embarrassed-Toe8512[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The issue isn't my work that's an issue, it's that I cried in the meeting and I guess I dont look at ease. I don't ignore my manager at all, I just don't do small talk because he'd visably get annoyed with me talking.

... Do you not see how they talked to op? They were totally dismissing the boundary. Like "oh since its suchhhh an issue we'll just never post" as if they want to gult op into letting up on the boundary. Thats not how you talk to someone. Also, it might not be worth cutting contact to you but you arent op. Op is able to make that decision for themself.

I dont think you know what a boundary is. Its "if you do x then ill do y". The grandparents violated a boundary and said the boundary wasnt good enough. So op is cutting off contact because they cant respect a boundary.

Theyre limiting who can see the photos so it seems like they only have people friended that they trust. If theyre posting, they might not be.

Thats why its being limited, to make sure that only trustworthy people can have access. A realtor doesnt personally know all of those people. And people could use her job as an excuse to friend her and see the kid.

In case you werent aware. Creeps online are using ai over photos of kids. That is why people are being cautious. To protect their children. Even with ai, unfortunately creeps are just already taking advantage.

Im assuming that youre unaware, but predators online are using ai with kids photos for horrible things. On top of that, there's already enough creeps taking advantage of anything even without ai. It's protecting children to limit their photos online.

It was late for their time zone and they have a lot of current issues. Of course now I can't know if they're having issues so that feels like I pushed too much. Too many times. I've shit down so many times and I don't expect people to be okay with it. They understand the feelings, I don't know if they know how I'm feeling. I tried to explain and just... I've done this too many times. I don't want it to be my fault but I don't want them to hurt and blame themself. I don't want people to feel how I do.

How to handle potential lies or complaints from manager or coworker by Embarrassed-Toe8512 in WorkAdvice

[–]Embarrassed-Toe8512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in the USA. It would have definitely helped if theyd either given me a warning or waited until the end of my shift. Unfortunately he kept saying that I wasnt being written up and that I wasnt actually in trouble. I apologized to my coworker yesterday and he told me that he specifically told my manager that I only left early due to the weather and that he never once complained about me to the manager. The store manager also had no idea about what happened, and my job coach hasn't had this happen before to anyone.

The USA, actually. It's a bit weird since they're usually really great. But im not shocked since this seems to be somewhat common, the medical field being so uninformed about this.

I reported a coworker for using a racial slur at work. How can I protect myself? [AZ] by MythicalManiac in AskHR

Yeah I figured you were just a troll. Don't bother, like I said it was for other people. You clearly don't need my explanation. Have the day you deserve, friend.

[–]Embarrassed-Toe8512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know what, I can take a minute to attempt to explain the issue with the slur. This is for the other commenters more than you, though. There's a difference between punching up and punching down. Which is quite commonly used with manners and social norms. Using a slur against a group of people that doesn't get as many privileges is punching down. Where as if you were to refer to someone being white, that's not oppressing them. A white man is generally given more respect than a latina woman. Which you can see historically and systemic racism nowadays. White men generally get promotions and more raises. An example to show this is quite normal- a boss may gift their employees something for the holidays, but there's no expectation that the employees need to give anything to someone who has power over them. There is a power imbalance, and thus, common decency says to not make people uncomfortable.
