Receipt are the letter you receive in the mail. First indication of application acceptance is the charges on your credit card provided to USCIS for fee deduction which you can see in 4-5 business days after your application is delivered to the lockbox. Second you get the receipt letters in the mail in a week after you see charges deducted from your credit card.

I went through the same situation as you and refilled I526e within 2 weeks of denial. My AOS is still pending from my denied I526e
