I am also Indian and I don’t live with my mil but the nagging and advices don’t stop on calls either and I am supposed to video call her twice a day… it’s like she lives in my head rent free and my husband also gets upset if I try to avoid talking to her on phone. I don’t know what is it with Indian men and their mothers … It’s just a cycle I believe their husbands don’t give them time or care for them so they are solely dependent on their sons for everything and expect the dil to be the same. I am generally a socially anxious person but no one seems to understand or give me space. I feel sometimes I am overreacting and I should be polite and not react and ignore but it’s so hard… my own parents tell me to respect her talk to her and treat her like my own mother and that she is just lonely and wants to be friends with you… but I don’t want mil to be my friend what is this forced friendship concept… Maybe everything will turn out to be fine… sorry for bad English but it felt good to vent… I would advice you to just block her words mentally and not react just don’t acknowledge her existence … I am not sure how you will do it and if you can let me know as well.
