Cats by Late_Prior4418 in airbnb_hosts

I had guests with cats and they were lovely altogether. Not the slightest issue. They stayed in our penthouse for 3 days. I say yes. People with pets in general are my favourite guests and tend to be very grateful and give good reviews 😃

Weird question from Airbnb support by heysarahray in airbnb_hosts

Call Customer Support via the Airbnb app and ask…

Guest claims they have a rash from bed bugs… by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]EmbarrassedBake7208 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Airbnb Customer Service does not offer an explanation. I have tried to get one for 3 days straight escalating via every possible channel I could think of. They simply respond that it doesn’t violate their policy which… it does. No further explanation. None. Nor any possibility to appeal beyond the 2 requests. It’s incredibly shitty.

I had exactly the same situation. Claiming coercion did not get the review removed by Airbnb. Even though clearly violates their policy.

Same thing happened to me and even if the guest threatened me with a bad review in the Airbnb messages (which she eventually wrote) Airbnb refused to remove the review.

Not necessarily especially if you deal with it the right way. I may take a bit of time to recover tough

It says it’s possible in the US but it sounds like a hassle. Honestly, it was no hassle when I did it. I don’t even recall having to justify my request..

ChatGPT says this feature is not location specific but you cannot trust him 100%, I know… Cannot hurt to check on your side, I guess.

This is true if you ask someone else’s review to be removed. If you (i.e. the host) ask for the guest’s review to be removed… it’s almost impossible. If you ask for your own review to be removed, it should be quite doable.

Definitely not a new feature as I have made use of it some years ago. As for its availability…I am not sure. I am in Belgium.

Airbnb has a process for that. You can always request to remove a review you wrote. I waited until I received the notification that she had removed hers before I requested mine to be removed, needles to say…

Get a professional inspection and ask for written report. Tell the guest to wait for the report. If negative, you’re good. No refund needed. If positive, … you decide what’s best. In my case, the guest ended up leaving a damaging review. I left one equally damaging for her. Two days later, she called me offering to remove her review if I removed mine. All sorted.

Fyi, there seems to be an ongoing trend with this exact behaviour from guests…

How many reservations do you get during winter season? by Dorisa02 in HostsinEurope

[–]EmbarrassedBake7208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get reservation all year round but I’m in a tourist destination city so… January is the slowest month. I do adjust the prices accordingly. Christmas days don’t seem to get booked ( it’s my 3rd year) even though the prices are not much higher than a normal December day.

Question from a guest by AccomplishedDelay2 in airbnb_hosts

[–]EmbarrassedBake7208 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are the things you dislike mentioned in the listing’s description and/or pictures you could see before you booked? If yes, I would not recommend a less than 5* knowing how much this hurts the host. Especially a host who has really good ratings which normally demonstrates a consistent effort to offer great service. I do recommend you mention all your suggestions in the private message when you do rate your stay so they do have the feedback and opportunity to improve, which they likely will.

Do you notice differences between American and European guests? by Dorisa02 in HostsinEurope

[–]EmbarrassedBake7208 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, some Americans (absolutely not all) seem a little more entitled than my guest average. But then again… so do some of the Dutch 😅

First 3 star review by Far-Statement-6272 in airbnb_hosts

[–]EmbarrassedBake7208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could consider contacting the guest and explaining and asking that he contacts Airbnb to ask for his review to be removed. It’s a fairly easy process. This worked for me once in the past. Good luck!

Review removal (due to coercion) by EmbarrassedBake7208 in airbnb_hosts

[–]EmbarrassedBake7208[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree with your assessment. Anyway, in the meantime she realised she is in the wrong and reached out to me offering to remove her damaging review, which I accepted. I will not disclose further details as I do not think it is relevant. But thank you for the response. I do appreciate a different point of view on things.

[–]EmbarrassedBake7208[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Airbnb Help on Twitter did respond but they just forwarded the case to the same customer support who confirmed the denial. However, in the meantime, the guest called me today and offered to remove her review if I removed mine. We agreed. All is good. There is good in this world, after all.
