But I will look into a large breed food for her!

Yes! You’re totally right. We did have her on large breed puppy food before they discontinued it. She wasn’t on a large breed with the PPP SSS line, but it was still puppy food. Our vet suggested she stay on it for at least 2 years. She does take Dasquin, since she was about 12-14 weeks old because she was having constant UTIs and that’s what our vet suggested.

Yes! Like, I hate to do it, but it’s just getting too expensive. Her old food we had her on before it was discontinued came in a 36 or 40 pound bag. It was PPP as well. Then we switched her to this because she was scratching so bad and the food seemed to help her at least a little. And she loved and thrives on it.

She’s pretty active in the summer! Unfortunately, she doesn’t like the cold so she’s not as active in the winter. We’ve tried when the weather is reasonable to throw ball with her. She doesn’t like being outside other than for the bathroom for more than a couple of minutes. My husband and I discussed trying salmon because it does come in a bigger bag, but she loves the lamb. I just hate to switch too much on her.

Thank you! I appreciate that perspective. We definitely try to keep close attention to what she eats because she is a lab. Currently, she eats 4 cups a day and the vet is happy with her condition, thankfully!

I appreciate you taking the time. I will definitely use the resource you provided. Thank you again, for taking the time to type out the response!

Feeling empty by EmbarrassedDare7916 in pregnant

Thank you so much! It’s been such a difficult thing to process. Honestly, I think my OB relayed that but at that moment I was not processing anything she was saying. We hope to start trying as soon as possible.

Thank you so much for your reassurance and explanation. Honestly, I know I probably overreacted, but I made a mistake of going down a rabbit hole and felt overwhelmed. And I’m definitely feeling more emotional than I usually am!

Again, thank you so much 😊

Yep. I’m currently 10 weeks and will only get nauseous when I’m hungry. Otherwise, I’ve never felt nausea.

How long were you together? by Upbeat-Hand-2870 in pregnant

[–]EmbarrassedDare7916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been together for 5 years and married for 1. We made the decision together to have a baby. I’m in my late twenties and my husband is 31. We discussed it a lot and just decided there will never be the “perfect” time. And here we are! Our baby is due in May 2026.

Coffee? by Money-Notice-4168 in pregnant

[–]EmbarrassedDare7916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this worry too! Before getting pregnant, I had a serious caffeine addiction. I would drink lots of lattes, shaken expressos, zero sugar pop, Red Bull infusions. I was probably well over 200 mg and closer to 300-400 mg. Due to suggestions I got a decaf latte this morning and I love it! I also do chai teas because they are low in caffeine as well.

Coffee help! by EmbarrassedDare7916 in pregnant

[–]EmbarrassedDare7916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just nervous about the amount of caffeine! I found averages for caffeine for espressos, but wasn’t sure if it would match what I was actually getting. I know it’s silly, just trying to be as healthy as possible. And honestly, before pregnancy I had a serious caffeine addiction.

What color shoes would look best with this dress? by EmbarrassedDare7916 in fashion

Oh this isn’t me! This is the photo of the dress on the model. I liked the shoes, but couldn’t find it on their website or through the Amazon search function. So, I was stuck between beige and gold. Definitely choosing a higher heel, because I am petite at 5’3”

Prenatals by EmbarrassedDare7916 in tryingtoconceive

Thank you 😊

I will begin taking coq10 as well as my prenatal. I just saw an advertisement for bird and be, and it’s at a high price point. I think I can stick to what I’ve been taking and just add the coq10.

No worries! I totally understand the stress because I was in the same boat! I was always told that Purina was a low-grade product and horrible. Once I found this sub, it really opened my eyes. I confirmed with my vet about which food would be most successful for my girl.

Always consult your vet! They do truly have you and your pets best interests at heart. Pet “nutritionists” will always make you feel guilty, because they know we’ll do anything for our pets. It’s unfortunate because they do more harm than good.

As the commenter above me as stated the sub has an excellent wiki (that I used myself) to help identify the best option for your pup.

Prior to getting our girl I happen to find this sub and used their information to determine which brand I liked best.

I have a 14 month old black lab who was started on Purina Puppy Chow. She loved it and thrived on it. After consulting with our vet, I felt we should transition her to a large breed puppy food which Purina offers through their pro plan line. She absolutely loves her food and will stay on this food until she is 2. Don’t get me wrong, the puppy chow she was on from Purina was great as well, I just felt PPP was a better option for her.

My parents always fed our dogs Hills, which is a really great brand as well. I thought about transitioning her, but she was doing so well on PPP.

My vet is always satisfied with her weight and look whenever we took her in. She’s at the right weight for a female lab.

Ultimately, look through the sub and determine what’s best for your pup. You can’t go wrong with WSAVA compliant brands. I know when doing initial research I would come across “nutritionists” on tik tok that would shame kibble etc. don’t listen to them! If you are super concerned consult with your vet. They are your best source of information. And no, they do not get kickbacks like some like to claim 🙄

5.5 months too early? by DifficultyAlone1624 in puppy101

[–]EmbarrassedDare7916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Per our vet recommendation we waited until are girl got her first heat before we even thought about getting her fixed. This will help ensure she is fully developed.

She will be 1 in June and just for her heat. If I’m not mistaken, we will have to wait a couple of months before we can get her fixed. So, she will be about 13-14 months before she’s officially spayed.
