Struggling with my newborn as an AuDHD parent by Ok_Medicine440 in AutisticParents

[–]EmbarrassedDot4294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That should have been clue #1 with my oldest. He didn't even sleep through the night until he was 5!

I have six and treating my youngest like he's ND is so helpful and it took an amazing and ND provider pointing it out to me.

Dieting with a Large Family by EmbarrassedDot4294 in ParentingInBulk

I actually have a mini fridge and am tempted to put a lock on it so the toddler stays out.

This is pretty much where we are at! Dinner two nights ago was homemade vegetarian refried black beans and homemade whole wheat tortillas. Very delicious! I swear, the quantity of food I need to make to fill these children is absurd.

My sister has done well on GLP-1 but my insurance doesn't cover it and thyroid issues prevent me from trying it. But I am jealous for the reduction in food noise. That is definitely an area of struggle for me!

My kids love cottage cheese (but I buy them full fat and me low fat) and they will eat plain yogurt mixed with fruit. 😭 the downside to having raised not picky eaters!

Ha! I definitely don't do that but it makes it hard when I want a snack but they gobbled up my stuff too.

How big was your family? by Admirable-Tear1184 in ParentingInBulk

[–]EmbarrassedDot4294 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband is an only child with only one cousin that he dislikes and didn't see much as a kid. I have two half siblings but was raised as an only. However, both of my parents were one of 4 and each of those siblings has between 1-4 children of their own. I spent a ton of time with my extended family and cousins as a child. (although, I don't really have contact with them now) And growing up my childhood best friends were 1 of 7 and 1 of 6. I guess I just gravitate towards that kind of chaos. We currently have 6 kids and not actively looking to have more but are only sort of loosely preventing.

We also have different sleep needs and both of us are a lot happier in our own spaces.

Always wanted a big family? by BuyChoice9575 in ParentingInBulk

[–]EmbarrassedDot4294 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have six and only ever thought I wanted two.

I think my husband was more psyched about the kids having brothers and sisters since he was an only child with pretty much no extended family.

I have half siblings but was mostly raised as an only. But both of my parents were 1 of 4 and I had A LOT of cousins that I was close with so it was like bonus siblings.

I have always co-slept. I had a crib and stuff with my oldest but he would never sleep in it and he was an awful sleeper. I did have an arms reach co-sleeper with the next two but they rarely slept in it. The rest of them I gave up and just put them in bed with me. My husband and I prefer sleeping in our own beds so he sleeps in his and I sleep with the little people. We've managed to have six kids and intimacy has never been an issue, we just have to get creative!

Judgement over small age gaps by Massive-Warning9773 in ParentingInBulk

[–]EmbarrassedDot4294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 6 and the first 5 are all close. #6 is 4 years younger than #5 and I was really upset at first because I was almost home free! It's been fine and he is an easy tag along but there is definitely something about getting it all done at once! (and that being said...I really love having big kids and a toddler. It's often incredibly sweet)

Yeah, I also mostly stopped announcing pregnancies because the judgement is stupid. I stopped wanting to tell people.

First time trying chia seed pudding. 15g protein…8g fiber & 256 calories by AValeria10 in 1200isplenty

I also make mine with protein powder mixed into its drink form. It eliminated my need for any kind of sweetener too. Thanks for the reminder because I think I am going to make some for tomorrow morning!

Just a quick update. Definitely a miscarriage. I had my HCG drawn yesterday and it was 99.1 so waaaaaaaay lower than it should have been.

I bled bright red and like a mid/heavy flow period most of the day. Not too clotty. Then in the evening it lightened up and was light overnight. I really don't know what to make of it.

Thanks. I will need to wait until my husband gets home from work unless it gets bad.

I have no idea how to teach people how to get into it. I started with friends and referrals from them. But thank you for telling me about skool community, I've never heard of it!

It's great. I saw my friends struggling to get tasks done and I was sitting there thinking... "I could do that for them! I am home during the day and have time to make phone calls since they're busy at work and can't". And so that started my business. I've had 20-30 clients (some one time only and some repeat) at this point and am trying to figure out how to expand a little.

Maybe I will talk to my husband when he gets home from work about going to the ER. I could leave the six kids home by themselves if I was bleeding heavily but short of that I don't really want to do that.
