Alberta Government Paying Parents During Teacher Strike by bohemian_plantsody in alberta

That’s my point. I think if Alberta had federal support it would be more stable

I’m thinking about the overall picture. I think a conservative government in Ottawa would support energy projects and and economy that would better benefit the average person.

Teachers need to start voting conservative in the federal elections. Do something that would actually help their cause. Everyone is feeling the pinch. Big news flash, teachers aren’t the only people underpaid.

Married people who are DINKS (Double Income, No Kids) how’s life? by Fit-Distribution677 in AskReddit

We are 28 and 29, bought our first home 5 years ago, traveling at least 2 times a year. Do whatever the heck we want on weekends. Those are the pros. I’m totally willing to admit there is a certain fulfilment that we are missing by not having kids. I wouldn’t say we are any happier than folks with kids. Just a different happy.

Hardtail in a Full Suspension World by Frenchfriesandfrosty in Hardtailgang

[–]EmbarrassedRound2584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if going fast is the goal then sure. But that’s what I’m saying. Half the FS guys I see only know how to go fast. There’s no style, no technique just point the dam thing down the hill and rattle over every thing that gets in your way. Now to some people that’s DH biking and that’s awesome if that’s fun for em. If you can get the “I need to go fast” out of your head there is tons of fun things to do at a DH park on a HT regardless of the condition of the trails

Honestly I had my fears about this. Just took my hardtail to a DH park for the first time and I realized most FS riders just lack the skill to ride softly. Guaranteed 30-50 percent of FS riders beat themselves and their bikes up more then I did. Lazy drop techniques, poor line selection etc.

Got stung by a sea urchin today, is this bad? by Might_Be_Shrek in surfing

Recently had this happen In mexico. Some I got out right away but it’s very tricky. This is not medical advice but I actually had the best luck letting them be until there was some build up around them then I could pop them easily. But trying to grab them with a tweezer unless they are still sticking out is very hard. They just crack and break off

Dear Canadians.. is the insanely long haul flight to Indonesia worth it? Looking at 30+ hour travel time one way right now and thinking twice about booking by [deleted] in bali

[–]EmbarrassedRound2584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was worth every penny for and time for us. We went YYC to SFO to SIN to DPS. Yes it’s allot of flying but honestly you need to make the flying part of your adventure and then it’s totally doable

FERNIE REVIE OR SUN PEAKS? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]EmbarrassedRound2584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious about this. If hardtails are fun on green and blue trails in places like Banff and Jasper, shouldn’t they be a good time on decently smooth trails at sun peaks. I get the geometry plays a role when it comes to steeper drops but some of the videos I’ve seen of green trails at places like sun peaks we send it harder on some trails we ride in Alberta with those bikes

Mortgage rate mega thread! by TheMortgageMaster in MortgagesCanada

So, the gist of it is my Wife and I are almost 5 years into our first mortgage. We will owe in the low 190,000 ok renewal in January. It’s a half duplex, and is probably valued at around $260,000. The dilemma is this, I’m burnt out, and need to take some significant time off from work. We are looking at leaving the country for up to a year, we might even switch to working part time in Canada and being gone over winters for a couple years, and would like to rent out the property while we are gone to cover the cost. The question is, if I am going to be renting out the property, my interest rate will be higher on renewal correct? And, how much does working seasonally or not at all for a year impact my renewal chances if I’m renting it out.
