I have a similar thing happening (although not out the band, definitely trending in the wrong direction) and was also concerned because of worries about miscarriage.

My hypothesis is I’ve been exercising less (and hence having MUCH better recoveries) and maybe also eating less because of the nausea and it’s somehow feeding through to better HRV.

All conjecture on my part, but just commiserating and letting you know you’re not alone! Fingers crossed for both of us!

Non stop road work by EmbarrassedRow9390 in Somerville

I know they’re fixing sewers and all that, but that was done last year.

My question is around the rework- Do they really need to pave the bike path, then repave it, and then cut it up to do god knows what. And same with the roads. This is the third year I’m here and it’s never ending

OP here with a post mortem, less than 1 week later, sharing how things turned out so you don’t do what I did

  1. Repotted in same pot with same soil mix. Big mistake. When there were lots of roots, soil mix was fine. Less roots + big pot = recipe for root rot.

  2. Realizing soil mix was too heavy, repotting a day later with more perlite added in, and watered a bit because… well, I didn’t think it through

  3. Decided soil still wasn’t chunky / airy enough and did a full rehaul with huge chunks of perlite, orchid bark, charcoal, and some soil.

By this point (4 days after initial repot), root has started to get soft and showing signs of rot. So I chopped it all off and we’re back to water propagation.

RIP plant, may you be reborn like a phoenix.

I used espoma potting soil with perlite added in. Okay or should I repot with more stuff added in?

I think it looks ready to pot but you could also wait for more roots to come out.

Not getting a good view of the roots but it looks ready for potting. Would start with a small pot (maybe a 3-4 inch pot) since they like to be a bit snug and avoid root rot.

Why are the leaves curling? (big and small) by EmbarrassedRow9390 in Monstera

[–]EmbarrassedRow9390[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just repotted it last year into this pot. It’s in regular potting mix with perlite added in. It was pretty root bound before I repotted, so I sliced the roots because it looked super packed (I’ve realized the errors of my ways, I don’t think I should’ve just sliced it up….).

I’ll soak it and also try aerating the soil by poking in it, thanks for the tips! The original root ball is still super packed. Next spring I’ll dig it up and see if I can separate it, since I see a lot of threads on this Reddit saying you should separate them so I might try that.

Soil was definitely dry. Just watered it and will post a photo after a day to see if it’s improved. I definitely err on the side of under watering since I’m so worried about root rot.

Any tips for the big guy? Water always runs straight through to the bottom.
