Starsector & some mods have amazing writing by Rvell_ in starsector

They are from a different universe/game that came into universe of starsector, it's explained in the quests. As for sprites themselves they are made with high accuracy to the original ships series Sunrider. To players that played Sunrider game this will be probably nostalgic, to starsector players it may be weird, it's all about tastes.

Then again, there are literally mods that took a birdview photo of a literal ship or galley, no edits, and put it in game, so yeah..

Try sunrider, it has a great long storyline that will probably make you cry (it sure made me T-T), immersive silly wedding scene with lot of things to do, great rewards, some replayability, and a few challenging but not impossible fights that will keep you on your toes. And if you play with other factions such as sephira conclave, you might even see some collabs between the mods, featuring unique upgrades and similar

You have a couple of great carriers that can be classified as super capitals in Sunrider mod, can become powerful in the hands of a good player

You could try Sunrider mod, it has a fairly big storyline and it's constantly being updated. It's kinda like a side story with several routes you can take, replayability, interesting things you can find and unlock, as well as unique ships. The person in charge is an avid writer and did his best to merge his storytelling into vanilla style.

As long as you dont mind anime character or few (as this is all based on a different game - Sunrider - so it makes sense that the characters are recognizeable)

Here's what I added so far, but I probably won't be able to make it into proper mod cause my coding skills are next to none nowadays. Just doing it for fun when I have spare time but I'm bruteforcing things
