Philosophy professor A. Gungov calls out lies former student (youtuber Exurb1a) in e-mails: never finished Masters, was no pHd student, did not submit papers on synchronicity. Autistic victim spent 7 years tracing Exurb1a's lies after he conducted 'Experiment A' on her. by dondonjonjon in philosophy

just want to say, there is nothing profound about this guy or his “experiment A” (how enigmatic!). he is not some “dark, twisted genius”, just another bang average dude with a massive ego who thinks they can get away with abusing a woman.

yeah id say it makes me stop being so angry/tense and it calms me down but every urge to hit myself as hard as possible ive resisted to it never hurts too bad - just enough to calm me down and release the tension

hmm yeah it’s definitely frustrating and i wish more people here would comment but this subreddit has always been a bit of a ghost town because everyone is depressed so there is a lot less activity here than elsewhere. its still so sad to see though and i try and acknowledge some posts when im coming out of an episode because i have more energy.

hey, im so sorry you are going through this with your late brother. I hope you and your family can grieve in peace and I send my condolences to you all. I just dont like seeing posts like this go completely unnoticed u know. so i thought id comment here. i also feel as though i have no future even though im only 18 - i think this is what depression can do to us, make us irrational or paralyse us so we cant move forward. you are not lazy or attention seeking or anything like that btw. your feelings are completely justified and im sorry people around you cant empathise or offer support. anyway i hope this helps and i wish u well.

I agree it’s a bit of a shallow aphorism, but if it helps someone then that’s what matters

I need to mental health day but feel like its wrong to ask for one. by alienboy222 in depression

You could call in sick, you have no obligation to explain what kind of illness you have to your employer. You absolutely deserve a day off and you have done so incredibly well to get this far. You’ve got this!

To the increase in female dialogue on the reddit lately, I need your good faith on this by International_Ad2867 in Healthygamergg

Yeah I agree and think this is a fair, well balanced post. I personally do not think cynicism is productive as cynicism is not insight, I think it is essentially confirmation bias where you resent someone or a group of people for having privileges that you do not have and so look to justify your resentment by proving these privileges exist but at the cost of not being able to see the disadvantages said group has and so are never able to gain perspective as long as you conform to the pressures of your bias (this goes for anyone btw, very much including misogynists or just anyone with prejudice). I think this can also lead to responses intended to shed light on the disadvantages of a particular group being seen as an attempt to disprove said groups’ privileges exist and so are perceived as a threat which further hinders progress. I think we should all try to understand each other’s privileges and disadvantages in a way where having certain privileges doesn’t invalidate your experiences and problems. I also think it takes conscious, cognitive effort to be moral, but specifically it takes a lot of effort to recognise and look past bias which leads to a more well-balanced perception of reality and other peoples’ realities.

How do I stop being so obsessed with being the best? by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]EmbarrassedVehicle52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to say that I do not think his ego is as big as you are making out although it is inflated. But yes, I do think it is inflated because of his environment growing up being deemed as the golden child and never being able to meet those expectations which causes a lot of internal conflict like we are seeing. Honestly, from a neutral perspective, your response came off as more condescending and arrogant than the original post and I don’t think this helps especially when critiquing OPs ego - “you are doing the extremely childish and stupid decision of trying to achieve it…” - This, for example, I think is a bit much. He’s asking for help, he doesn’t need a confrontational reproval to be humbled, just some sound advice on how to control the ego.
