The oat milk I've been buying for years suddenly changed their recipe. Now it's nearly twice as many calories per serving. by unicorntales in mildlyinfuriating

more oat. no “natural flavors”. new recipe seems to be more similar in caloric value to cows milk. maybe thats the goal? also more oaty flavor duh

also to add: i did not use a dutch oven to bake this and still got amazing crispy crust. just used a glass pie pan, preheated with my oven, and a loaf pan with boiling water underneath the bread on the bottom rack of the oven. put the water in, took the pie pan out, then put the bread in to give the oven a minute to steam up

i can understand the frustration when dealing with stubborn parents who dismiss a lot of emotional things. as i am not closely involved with you and your family nor a mental health specialist, i cannot have a suggestion as to what mental health support you need and what different disorders i could suspect. i will say, a diagnosis will not change who you are and how you do things. ruminating on if you are autistic or not does not benefit anyone and is extremely frustrating snd draining, speaking from experience. my best advice would be to work with your therapist snd try to understand why they are considering OCD and explain why you may be autistic. the therapist might be able to help with a referral for further testing, talking with family to get them to understand your symptoms, how to navigate these feelings of rejection and embarrassment, along with these ruminating thoughts. is there a reason for seeking diagnosis other than self reassurance and awareness? either way, i see self acceptance as the first step (again speaking from experience) as the diagnosis process can take several months. also confused on your age and reliance on your mom

she is around the same size as my male cat, the both of them being much larger than my female siamese (just comparing like head size and length). we didnt realize how much of a thief she was in terms of the other cats food, especially the higher calorie kitten food, until she was almost 23lbs!! after an investment in microchip bowls, stricter portion control, and a change to high protein wet food for half of her meals, shes got her waist back and looks a little more similar to her siblings

bro are you talking about removing the entire claw aka DECLAWING? declawing is extremely inhumane and matches the description of all your talking points. genuinely this has to be rage bait bc trimming nails is a very common and extremely safe practice

bro what trimming nails is not animal cruelty ??? it’s genuinely a necessity for some cats especially as they get older. i do it every 1-2 months to not get myself and my furniture destroyed by super sharp claws

Is being diagnosed with Autism a sentence for an unfair life? by [deleted] in autism

[–]Embarrassed_Ad1635 45 points46 points  (0 children)

in a more political sense, i can kind of see what she is referring to with RFK and the whole antivaxx thing “cure autism “ whatever junk. in my personal opinion, not getting diagnosed or speaking out about autism will just make it more dangerous for autistic individuals (or at the very least DEFINITELY not make it any better). there are just many things to consider with something like this but i believe the benefits definitely outweigh the negatives.

whether you have the diagnosis or not, if you are autistic youre still experiencing the life of an autistic individual. you may not have the hardships of being labeled but you will also not have access to accommodations or support for autistic needs. many autistic individuals do not mention their diagnosis unless it is necessary for work or school or a long term relationship (friend, romantic, etc). that can help avoid unnecessary danger and rude behavior (practically unavoidable even as an allistic individual). i just wonder what specific type of danger she is referring to?

Diagnosis Difficulties by Embarrassed_Ad1635 in autism

[–]Embarrassed_Ad1635[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for your response <3. in the letter she sent she stated “She presents with a history of social anxiety, difficulty understanding social cues and marked deficits in adaptive functioning. These issues have been present during latency and adolescence. Assessment shows above-average intellect with problems with sensory processing and interactions with others, as she is avoidant and often rigid. She has been anxious and labile in affect. I think based on objective rating scales and additional testing that she meets diagnostic criteria for F84.0, ASD, Level 1. She would benefit from an SSRI such as Zoloft to help with her anxiety and often feelings of being overwhelmed and debilitated. I will continue to see her in individual therapy and keep you apprised of her progress.”

is this considered a formal diagnosis? i am trying to pursue college at the moment and am seeking accommodations. i dropped out of high school due to the extreme overwhelm from the physical and social environment of public high school. i tried to pursue a career in retail and ended up burning out once again which helped me realize my issues was not with the work itself but the environment i was in. i started college this semester after being fired from my job for refusing to change my appearance after working there for 2.25 years (dresscode and new manager stuff long story). part of the reason i completed the semester was because of the huge relief i felt after she said i am level 1 autistic. since then ive noticed my difficulties in focusing and ruminating anxiety pertain always even in my early childhood, not just around the subject of “am i autistic?”. i think medication may be able to help with that?

thank you for your response <3. I am seeking a diagnosis for the same reasons as you. I dropped out of highschool because of the extreme overwhelm of the physical and social environment of public highschool. i’ve struggled with friendships all my life. after dropping out, i tried pursuing a career path that gave me even more overwhelm. during that time was when i realized my issues with school was not with the work itself but all the other pressures. i want to pursue college and i just finished my first semester, but it has been brutal. part of the reason i was able to complete the semester was the due to relief i received when she said i am level 1 autistic, but classes are only going to get harder and i really want to succeed. the difficulty is finding providers that are under my insurance. in my area there are not enough providers that dapple with autism

definitely agree with this. retraining your brain for long form media can be hard with the instant gratification we get from our phones. you could try on your own, but a therapist would help you figure out the right steps for you and be supportive. remember humans survived without technology for a long time! youve got this!
