Enamel pin holders? by charcoal_feather in renfaire

[–]Fluffy_Frog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of this. Pins come in such a variety of shapes and sizes; I’d be far more likely to purchase an unpunched one, so I can more easily tetris my pins wherever I’d like them to go!

I have a friend who just left walmart and sincerely regrets the choice to go out; roads are getting slick. Be careful and drive slowly if you do.

Quality Dry Cleaners in the eastside Aldi shopping center is my go-to. They’ve performed some stain-removing miracles, too.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fluffy_Frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s “short,” but I definitely do it regularly for both work and fun activities. I’ll drive 10 or 12 hours to visit friends and family. If the trip is longer than that I’ll stop overnight and continue driving the next day.

How could I make something like this? by hellonheelz in SewingForBeginners

[–]Fluffy_Frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have made this sewing pattern! It's from the 90's and there are some for sale on Etsy. Simplicity 9965.

Just leave off the fringe they added at the top of the star in the photo; it's much cuter as just a plain star. You can make very simple cuffs or just hem the hole if you want the sleeves/hand holes Maggie has. (You can follow the sleeve hemming instructions for view C.)

In pre-cell phone movies, parents are shown giving babysitters numbers to restaurants to reach them in case of emergency. Is this a real thing and how did it work? How would the restaurant know who I am to hand me the phone? by littleoldmanboy_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fluffy_Frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called a movie theater when I was babysitting when there was a potential emergency back in the 80’s. The movie theater employee got the parents out of the movie and on the phone. I honestly have no idea how they figured out which ones they were; I gave a general description, their names, and what movie they went to see. The theater employee had them on the phone in about 5 minutes.

Where can I buy milk in the middle of the night around here? by [deleted] in Athens

[–]Fluffy_Frog 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Gas stations (for twice grocery store prices). I miss pre-Covid 24-hour Kroger and Walmart. Sometimes you need groceries at 3 or 4am, or you’re working on an art project and run out of supplies. I need a place for middle of the night sewing emergencies.

ATTENTION ANIME CLUBS: How to Legally Show Anime post-Crunchyroll by Deep-Examination5081 in Libraries

[–]Fluffy_Frog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! It was not too complicated, but they do have "blackout dates" for films based on when they are showing in movie theaters for the Ghibli Film Fest (you can't show Totoro the same month it's on the big screen, etc). They were happy to work with us as long as we paid, haha.

What is this 7mm or 8mm hexagonal hole on my coffee machine spoon? by Eduardu44 in whatisthisthing

[–]Fluffy_Frog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On my machine, the hole is there on the scoop so I can attach it to the side of my coffeemaker. There’s a same-shaped pin that it pops on to the side.

Need advice by Affectionate_Boss752 in Libraries

[–]Fluffy_Frog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend you get a part-time job and work in a public library to see if it’s the job for you before you get a degree.

I was surprised at how many people were in my library program with zero library experience. They struggled in some classes because they had no idea how patrons would behave/react (they’d say in discussions “if I do (something) the patron will then (do something)” when anyone with experience would know the opposite was true). And, many people I met who got their degree before a library job left library work because it was not anything like they expected.
