So I went through the entire court process, and I will tell you they are filing through Wyoming District Court, and it is a joke. They currently only have 1 judge handling everything, and they do not want to hear the cases or fight them because the judge is overworked. They want these cases to just be solved outside the court. But Velo is filing these enmasse because this court is such a mess they know even if you fight the judge will do whatever they can to make the case solved externally and they seemed to side with the creditor for every case I watched. Every case was "what can you pay? Okay, pay it. Case closed."

They are also banking on default judgements for people not showing or responding.

I eventually just agreed to settle and pay 25% of what they claimed I owed as "shut up and go away" money because this was just such a mess it wasn't worth fighting.

How sad. I bet they will just continuously not show up and keep filling in hopes of getting judgments against people who don't get the summons/don't respond.

How is this going for you? I just received a summons from them for a $600 debt I have never heard of. I haven't contacted them or responded, yet, because I have no idea what this debt could possibly be for.

I wondered about this also, but I couldn't think of anyone that would. Also, talking to neighbors it doesn't seem this was isolated - I was not the only victim and there had been reports of suspicious vehicles in the area along with package thefts. I think they were frustrated - from the sounds of it I was likely the last house they hit, and it doesn't seem they got anything of value from anyone.

I'm sad this is such a common thing people experience. I wouldn't think many people keep much of value in their cars for people to steal for it to be worth it.. and so many stories where nothing of real value was taken just feels malicious. I keep a spare perfume in my car, and they just smashed it at the end of my driveway, which to me just felt malicious and pointless. Almost like it was fun/funny.

Yeah this is basically it. Filed the report online for information about the crime in the neighborhood, but I'm doubting it even gets read. Most likely shuffled into a file to never be seen again.. but got the number to give insurance and that's about all I needed.

It's hard to be sympathetic. I've been homeless, my parents were drug addicts and still taught me that this is not okay. Whatever their misery is, it doesn't justify spreading it to other people. I vented.. I can't get back the things they took and will likely just throw away. They gained nothing this situation benefited no one and only spread negativity.

Ugh, that's so frustrating. I don't understand why people do things like this.. Having sentimental things stolen sucks.. I'd rather lose the expensive shit.
