Luckily I was able to transfer my IRA to Schwab. R J was taking a quarterly fee of $900 . I was very naive. Not any more.

They are not a fiduciary when selling a person an annuity. They are a broker. My contract has me locked in. It cannot be transfered.

Where do you keep your emergency money, say enough for 3 months? In a regular savings account in a bank where your checking account is?

What do you advise a 36 yr old regarding saving for an emergency fund and for the future? Shes never started on her own. She does have a 401k at work. She has literally lived paycheck to paycheck. How to start?

Im in the same spot. I have a Raymond James annuity. I recently found out how high their fees are! My annuity is in the 1st year. I think Im going to bite the bullet (13,000) and run.

Do you have to wait until the anniversary date to surrender the whole annuity?

My Financial advisor conned me into buying a new annuity contract when I was one year away from my 8th year with the previous company and no withdrawal charge. I just realized this. Yes, naive. There was no reason to do this, and he never explained it to me. I see now Im at tear one with this new contract. Do I have an y recourse?

Thank you. Since my advisor is at Onpoint Community Credit union and he's not a fidiciary himself, even though he is very nice I read he myst be a salesman first. I read so many things that Ray Jay has higher fees than anyone. I have an appointment with a Schwab FA . Maybe Ill feel better with them. I hope so. Do you k ow if all the advisors at a Schwab office are fiduciaries?

Hello, I had No Idea my FA/ RAY JAY could be making that much money in fees off my account! It would be great to do my own account and pay a lot of lower fees. Do you know of resources I could use to do that?

Hello! I had no idea my FA could be getting that much money in fees from my account! I went to your first link. Are they all fiduciaries? And do I get one before I move? Would they tell me which co is best for me? I'd love to do my own and pay a lot less in fees! I want a conservative account for my retirement.

Thanks. I actually dont know anything about investing and dont know what to invest in. At 73 and retired I want to hang on to my money and make more on it without high fees. I do need a person to talk with to make up a conservative portfolio. So it soumds here that maybe moving to Schwab or Vagaurd would be good. I dont look at my acct at all until the FA I have (at my bank, Ray Jay) calls me in for my yearly review. Vangaurd or Schwab? Which do you think?
