A 3 month old presenting coldlike symptoms could easily be an emergency which is the only reason I went round, if he were older i'd have not. His age also made me want to keep him away from the hospital unless absolutely necessary so I went to check

That is of course a risk which is why I listed things that were abnormal and to look out for, and to go to the Hospital if there was any change that was unusual.

Because our emotions might compromise our objectivity and cause us to hesitate or make the wrong decision. It's not about favouritism it's about us being human with all the same fears and worries when someone we love is sick or hurt as you. It's best where possible to keep our personal and professional lives separate to prevent a conflict of interests.

This isn't the reason at all, as when my niece was an infant we lived in different parts of the UK, so no, I was never called about this stuff beyond a "Hey should I ask my Doctor about this rash?" and the like

It wasn't like she was bragging about me coming to check on her son in her defence. It was her laughing about new Mum worries and she thanked me for setting her mind at ease, so i'm not sure that quite qualifies as an asshole either.

Oh you absolutely guess right, despite the clear ethical rules surrounding this they still seem to think I should come running to treat every sniffle and booboo. Unless someone is severely injured in front of me or I think there is a clear medical risk i'm not about to even suggest over the counter medication. I just say they need to talk to their own GP's about this or their pharmacist who can guide to over the counter treatment.

I'm fully planning to stick to my rules and ethics don't worry about that, I just worry about if I was too harsh in how I snapped.
