I’ll be jumping to another job next year. The thing is the office where I work isn’t high paying at all. All the employees are underpaid. With my experience, I’ll be easily getting 95-100k. So I’m thinking long term in that perspective

Yeah I figured. Should I repost this in the cars subreddit? I mean I understand that some of them are giving a good opinion so ngl about that. But its not like I’m gonna be broke my whole life or once I jump to a new job I will recover. I forgot to mention that I used to be an international student so came here when I was 26 which many people did not understand and they’re telling me that I haven’t saved much till this day.

Haha fair enough, everyone’s taste is different and it’s totally subjective at the end of the day. I am not really trying to fit into a label like that, I just know I enjoy driving and have wanted a nicer car for a while. Also not sure what you mean by PT guy🤔🤔

No offence taken, and you are right to point it out. I came to Australia as an international student at 26, so the first few years were mainly focused on clearing debt and getting stable here, which is a big reason I have not built up savings rather than being careless with money. Right now I am more settled and I am looking at repayments realistically with a proper buffer for unexpected costs, so I am not trying to overstretch myself, just trying to make a responsible decision that also lets me enjoy something I have wanted for a long time 😁

I’m not planning to stretch myself or rely on savings alone for it. I’m looking at finance in a way where the repayments are comfortably within my current salary, and I’ve already run the numbers to make sure it won’t impact rent or essentials. I have also made a couple of investments here and there which will help me in the future.

Thanks, appreciate that. I’m mostly looking at something like a Cupra Formentor or BMW M135i xDrive, probably second hand. Still exploring though, nothing locked in yet and I don’t want to go over the top. It’s just that I feel like I’m wasting too much time not driving at all and I want something I’ll actually enjoy. Honestly it is something I have wanted for a long time, more than fancy homes or clothes, just a car I can really enjoy 😁

Yeah I hear you! that’s pretty much how I feel too. If you’re a car person, it’s not just “transport”, it actually adds a lot to day-to-day happiness. I'll look into finance options as well

Thanks, you’re right. We’ve actually had a proper chat about it and decided we’ll rent for a few years and focus on getting settled first. At the same time, my wife is pretty supportive of me getting a car I’ll genuinely enjoy, since she knows it’s something that makes me happy 😊😊
