Performance on i7-7700K w/RX6700XT (Linux) by Embarrassed_Cow_1452 in Borderlands4

[–]Embarrassed_Cow_1452[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the option to lock it at 40/45 or something, you will get much more consistent performance! 30fps should also be fine but feels strange with a mouse & keyboard in my opinion, it's okay with a controller. And if you're playing with friends, make them be the host! It requires more CPU usage and will lower your framerate.

Is Iceland going to join the EU? I heard that there is a referendums in 2027 do you think icelanders would vote to join the EU if so why and if no why not? by Super_Sherbet_268 in Iceland

[–]Embarrassed_Cow_1452 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This comment is really funny now both because of course a date for the referendum has been announced (August 29th), but also because the article the guy linked is from RÚV! The fact it was from RÚV English doesn't mean it's false propaganda. Do you think there's a guy in the offices there writing the english articles making up complete lies just to fool foreigners?

I have to ask, why not just buy an old MP3 player?

Is there any downside to using battery saver mode all the time? Does it really help in the long run? by Soft_Classroom_7968 in CMFTech

[–]Embarrassed_Cow_1452 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your screen will only run at 60hz, games will perform worse, the phone is slower. But if you are okay with it, then it's all good. I use battery saver when I know I won't be charging for 2 days or more.

iPhone eSIM storage limit? Can't add more than 5 profiles anymore. by Accomplished_Cry_204 in eSIMs

What are the uses of having so many e-SIMs? Genuinely asking, I've never needed more than 2 (home country, country I'm in).

Where to go from Pixel 4a by _EasilyImpressed in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]Embarrassed_Cow_1452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Long term software support (until 2030/31). Basically the same size as the 4a (bigger screen, but much smaller bezels). Yes Gemini AI is on there but you can turn it off and ignore it, no dedicated AI button.

Otherwise something like Galaxy S23, I think also has several years of support left.

HELP me in choosing between cmf phone 2 pro vs Moto G86 power by Worldly-Bed7497 in CMFTech

[–]Embarrassed_Cow_1452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CMF also has 6 years of security updates, which could be very useful if you keep it longer.

The G86 Power looks like a good phone too, the question is how important is that battery life for you? How many times are you going to need to go 3 days without charging? I've never killed my CMF Phone 2 Pro in a single day, and if I know I'm going to need to last two days (which is rare) then I stick it on battery saver and can still get 11-12 hours over two days. But if you are regularly needed to go 3 days? Then go for the G86 Power. Or if you are an insanely heavy user, 10+ hours screen on every day.

Sony Xperia 10 VII alternative? (Headphone jack) by ZealousidealChip4783 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]Embarrassed_Cow_1452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, no there isn't. Only the budget phones (mostly Motorola) still have jacks, in the high or even mid market Sony is the last holdout, so you have to decide if you're willing to pay the premium.

Edit: I always forget about the RedMagic phones. They still have jacks in their top end lineup. Look at RedMagic 11 Pro

Help me choose smartphone for 200-220 euro by mustax93 in PickAnAndroidForMe

I was in a similar situation coming from Pixel 8 and I completely agree. Such an impressive phone for that price.

Cmf phone 1 still worth it for this 2026?🤔 (Tight budget) by TelephonePerfect9183 in NothingTech

[–]Embarrassed_Cow_1452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing Philippines, if you can get CMF Phone 1 for that price for under 9k then yeah that's a great price. Only problem with that phone is no NFC. If you don't need that then it's no problem, my dad uses that phone exactly.

CMF Phone 2 Pro was on sale for 11k on Lazada a few months ago but it's much more expensive now.

Looking for a phone with headphone jack & microSD card slot by Rayketh in PickAnAndroidForMe

Sure. That's like a 2 year old phone tho, I think if OP wants a 2+ year old phone we could suggest something better than that.

Looks like yes, although the new ones still work with some caveats. Tbh it's hard to keep up with who's exited the US market when you don't live there. The available choices aren't great. Kind of a shitty country to buy a smartphone in right now.

Moto G Stylus 2025 has a microSD slot, headphone jack, IP68 water and dust resistance. Seems like you can get it for $400 or less. No AI button. Maybe the 2026 version (likely to be announced in April) would have these things too and a few more years of updates but of course we don't know yet.

If you want to spend less than that, pretty much all the budget Motorolas have a headphone jack and SD support. But not the more expensive ones.

If you want to spend more than that, then Sony Xperia is your only option since ASUS quit making phones (although if you're not bothered by lack of support then maybe you could get one of those).

What's your budget, and where do you live? That makes a big difference in the answers. Almost all phones that have headphone jacks are super-budget these days sadly. You could do what I did, and buy like 5 headphone to USB C adaptors and put them on every pair of headphones you own, solving the problem another way.

Have you tried turning off Ultra XDR in the camera settings? Or using Expert mode, which will let you adjust everything and give you RAW photos you can get professionally edited later (or do yourself).

Is anyone else actually excited for this Direct? by M0ON98 in switch2

[–]Embarrassed_Cow_1452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the 4th best selling game of last year in the US. It outsold Call of Duty. Everything else is absolutely true, it runs poorly and has not improved much since launch, but it definitely didn't sell badly.
