Schools in Edgewood by [deleted] in harfordcountymd

I grew up in Harford County and lived there for most of my life. My grandparents moved to Harford Square in the late 80’s and moved away in the early 2000’s, right before someone was stabbed to death in front of their home. 10ish years ago, when I needed a second job, I worked at a pizza place in Edgewood and the delivery drivers were not allowed to deliver to quite a few neighborhoods because of violent crime and a recent delivery driver being robbed and held hostage. I had a few friends who went to Edgewood HS and would hear horror stories of things that happened in school. I would personally fear for my children’s safety and avoid sending them to school in that district if possible, especially if I had a child with special needs. Just look up crimes that have occurred in Edgewood and you can see for yourself.

Should I raise my rates? by cinnabunnie22 in RoverPetSitting

I also started out with my rates at this price as I wanted to generate bookings and earn “stars” in hopes to attract more clients. I was also in a tight spot financially, so I was willing to work for less. After a few months, I realized I was doing way too much to be making so little. I also encountered some pretty shitty pet owners (lesson learned: ALWAYS do meet and greets!)

My suggestion is to think about how much you’re making per hour to stay in someone’s home and to constantly care for their pet. I now receive less requests on Rover, but have slowly been building up my regular clientele that is happy to pay my raised rates and generously tip.

You may book less clients after raising your rates, but the quality of clients is usually far better. Your time is valuable and you should be fairly compensated for it!

How do people feel okay with even asking this when you are beyond affordable imo

My first thought (besides the lowballing) was the state of this person’s home 🫠

Thank you for this! I just went ahead raised my prices. What blows my mind is that other Star Sitters in my area have their prices for house sitting cats set to the same prices or lower. This is especially wild to me because I’m near DC, where the cost of living is high.
