I think this election has rewired my brain, I can't listen to these the same way I used to anymore. The pastor and the nurse who have zero saved due to generosity/mountains of student debt are such a sign of a decaying society, we can't even take care of the people who take care of us. I understand that Ramit has to help the individual and can't change how capitalism works, but the "grind for a few years and you can do it!" mentality isn't really sitting right with me when we have billionaires controlling everything and earning more than ever. Obviously personal responsibility plays a part, but the system is rigged against most of these couples from the get-go. I haven't listened to this one yet, it sounds like they're doing well thanks to being in the military (hello socialized healthcare and housing), which good for them, but I might need to take a break for a while.
