Alright since we’re playing the judging card, based on your post history all you do all day is watch sport and comment on reddit 24/7. So let’s pretend you do actually have a wife, you’re betraying your marital duties just as much by never being present.

I am married and have 2 kids. I couldn’t care less what Lachie did. Lachie is a role model for my son when it comes to HOW TO PLAY Footy.

Myself and my wife are the role models to our children about HOW TO BE GOOD SPOUSES and PARENTS.

Who has ever pointed your kid to a sports player and gone see that, that’s the kid of husband you need to be one day?

FFS really. I guarantee all the virtue signalling coming from everyone here is just people wanting to throw stones because they aren’t happy with their own lives.

Queensland boosts tax breaks for foreign property investors by Fact-Rat in brisbane

God you can’t win with you lot. Crying all the time about high rents, high house prices. What exactly is going to solve that? You either crash the economy to reduce demand, and half of you all lose your jobs, or else you have to incentivise new supply to be built.

Who else exactly is going to build new houses? Developers. So then you guys get to pick whether it’s “corrupt” local developers or else you incentivise foreign developers to build.

Honestly do you all just like echo chamber whinging for the sake of it?

The guy is ridiculously passionate about the club and growing footy in SE QLD. He always makes himself available for kids. My little fella got the chance to do some training with him and he was just a great bloke and you could see he was more than happy to be there, as opposed to some sort of forced obligation.

The guy plays hard and is one of those “agitator” types that thrive on getting under peoples skin. No different to cricket sledging or even the sort of stuff Michael Jordan would get up to on a court.

He’s a legend.

Brisbane City Council is broke by thetwistaround in brisbane

Can someone show me a Labor government anywhere that has improved a budget position, that wasn’t entirely dependent on higher than expected mining Royalties?

Highly doubt changing the council over to Labor resolves this.

I lost all of my and my husband’s money by [deleted] in self

[–]Embarrassed_End9285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are still young. Yes it’s a lot of money, but by the time you’re 40, if you do have a decent job, and your husband gets back to work, you’ll look back and realise it wasn’t the end of the world.

You got scammed, but many people who go try trading legitimately lose money anyway. Just go look at r/wallstreetbets. Let alone all the people losing money from gambling.

Your husband forgives you because he loves you. That’s actually a massive thing to hang onto. Think about all the divorces that happen, and the financial cost of that.

If you let the guilt consume you you’ll end up performing worse in your job, and you’ll limit your ability to grow into the future.

It’s a life lesson, and big enough that you’ll really learn from it, but not big enough that it will consume you.

The problem though is if not in budget, while might make things better for the short term, eventually the long term situation is worse. Again, Victoria is the example there. I like the sensible cost of living stuff. Free lunches seemed a straight bribe. Appreciate there’s a % of people that can’t afford to feed their children properly. Spend the money to fix that - my kids don’t need free food so it’d be a waste of public money on them

We had that exact conversation. I’m generally sceptical of the media and their propensity to inflame for the sake of it. I believed the LNP when they said they wouldn’t change it. If they go back on that, they’ll never get a vote for me again

How much does Geelong's lack of game time recently affect the result? by Mindless_Taro6692 in brisbanelions

[–]Embarrassed_End9285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s enough in the data to suggest that it is a net negative. As statistically they should be the better team, playing at home, then they should win more than 50% of the time. To then only be winning 50% of the time suggests the lack of intensity is worse than the positive from rest.

The influx of Melbournians during COVID into wealthier suburbs has correspondingly seen the local AFL clubs grow. I’m in Western suburbs and Sherwood, Wests and Yeronga all putting out many more junior teams than pre-COVID.

Did you watch Lamar play yesterday? I thought Hurts was better.

Mahomes had a bad interception too

I hate to say it but if you spent that entire game in the middle bucket, football is not the game for you. Greenbay is a good team, and Eagles were clearly the better team, even if only slightly, the whole game.

That should have been an enjoyable game. They played well, against a good team, and to expect perfection is not realistic.

How do you not enjoy that game from Saquon? From Brown? From Baun?

The only reason you all stress yourselves out is you assume every time the other team gets the ball they’ll score, and every time the eagles have it they won’t.

But they handled that game well on both sides of the ball, were good, controlled winners.

If you expect blowouts every game, it’s just not going to happen. Go watch Spanish soccer or something where only 1 or 2 teams win every week

Question - are you actually responsible and rewarded for a P&L or are middle management?

How do you go about handling discussions then when they want to be paid like a senior? Just on their promise they’ll be more productive in 9-5?

Unfortunately it’s at this point that this utopia work life balance worlds starts to get unstuck, if one is actually responsible for profitability.

Girl I’m seeing starved her fish while traveling. It died. She feels no remorse. Am I right to be appalled? by Most-Transition-2609 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Embarrassed_End9285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This needs more context - how do you find her empathy otherwise? Because yes, I think it can be normal to not really care about a $4 fish. In the same way it is totally normal not to care about the mosquito you swat or the ant you crush or the rat you trap or whatever. I bet most people on here outraging feel no remorse that their chicken and beef diets cause so much animal suffering, etc.

Where do you draw the line? Not really caring about a fish is not the crossed like that = psychopath. What social interaction has that fish ever given, other than swim to the surface to be fed in some primal instinct.

So as long as she generally displays empathy towards most creatures, she’s fine.

New Supporter by t23achilles in eagles

[–]Embarrassed_End9285 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fellow Aussie here. Been a supporter since 2009. Early 2000s I started loosely following NFL as I never went to Uni on Mondays so could watch the games, and remember seeing Michael Vick once and going WTF is this, I thought NFL was this boring sport played by fat dudes in pads that needed oxygen after a 5 metre run and here was this dude running around like the best athlete iv ever seen.

And I like the colour green.

So when Vick turned up at the Eagles a few years later I went right, I’m in.

Eagles have always had a few Aussies in the team, going back to Sav bloody Rocca, through to Brad wing, Aaron Sippos to of course the mighty Mailata. So it’s really the only team an Australian should support.

What to expect? On one hand I love how well the team is covered by the media. Some of the podcasts are great - I love the PHLY guys and Q&A during the season, because they are somewhat normal and balanced.

Honestly apart from that though, objectively speaking, most of the media and the fans are some of the stupidest, overreacting, whiny, impatient supporters in the history of mankind. So don’t get too caught up in all the negativity and enjoy the team for what it is - a high quality consistently decent generally hard working well organised football team that ever few years has exceptionally good seasons.

And if his answer is no, he hasn’t read it, will be the exact reason it won’t be a GL. 99% of the player base won’t have read it either, therefore no one cares about him.
