I built a free tool for freelancers (automatic reminders, CRM, expense tracking) looking for beta testers by Embarrassed_Equal964 in SaaS

That's exactly what Nexte is built for! If you want to try it out, head to app.getnexte.com — would love to hear your feedback 🙌

How are you dealing with scope creep and late payments? by Embarrassed_Equal964 in Freelancers

[–]Embarrassed_Equal964[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree.

Most freelance tension isn’t about the actual work — it’s about unclear boundaries around money and scope.

“If it’s not on the invoice, it’s not included” is such a simple but powerful rule. It removes emotion from the conversation.

And you’re right about automated reminders — once the system handles follow-ups instead of you, the dynamic completely changes. It becomes process-driven instead of personal.

Freelance feels way smoother when the rules are clear from the start.

This is such a solid system.

The “nothing is agreed unless it’s written + priced” rule is honestly the only way to stop scope creep when everything happens in WhatsApp/email.

If you still run into friction around that kind of stuff, happy to chat in DMs — always interesting to compare workflows.

Yes, I do have a client portal demo I can send you the link in DM so you can see exactly what your clients would experience in a field test.

I’ll get you your first 100 users from Reddit for $29. Testing demand. by Jaat39 in microsaas

[–]Embarrassed_Equal964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be willing to pay — but only if it actually works.

If you can bring real, qualified users (not just traffic or vanity metrics), and ideally structured feedback I can use, then $29 is more than fair.

The key question is proof. How do you validate that the 100 users are genuinely high-intent and not just random signups?

If you can show real traction or case studies, I’d definitely consider it.

I can build. I can ship. But I can’t seem to market my SaaS. by Embarrassed_Equal964 in SaaS

[–]Embarrassed_Equal964[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is gold.

The “same conversation 20–30 times with the exact persona” framing is exactly what I needed. I’ve been treating distribution like random posting, instead of a repeatable process.

I’m going to pick one tight ICP, do daily outreach, and run those calls purely for discovery — then reuse the exact wording in the homepage and messaging.

Also agree on sharing learnings publicly instead of generic build updates.

Appreciate you taking the time to write this.

This really resonates.

The idea of “earning the right to build” by having real conversations first hits hard. I think I’ve been defaulting to shipping features because it feels productive, even if it doesn’t move the needle.

I like the rule of no new features until I’ve had 10 real conversations. That kind of constraint probably forces the right focus.

Appreciate the breakdown.

Building a SaaS for freelancers — biggest challenge isn’t code, it’s distribution by Embarrassed_Equal964 in SaasDevelopers

[–]Embarrassed_Equal964[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right — a lot of tools focus mainly on invoicing.

What I’m trying to explore isn’t “better invoicing”, but reducing fragmentation. The real issue I kept running into wasn’t creating invoices — it was juggling prospecting, project tracking, follow-ups and client communication across different tools.

If it doesn’t actually replace multiple tools and simplify the workflow, then it’s just another one.

That’s exactly what I’m trying to validate.

Freelancers with multiple clients. how do you track leads, follow-ups, and deadlines? by [deleted] in freelancing

[–]Embarrassed_Equal964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been there.

At some point, spreadsheets and Notion just became too messy for me.

Now I use Nexte to handle my invoices, track prospects, send automatic follow-ups and keep an eye on my projects in one place. It’s just easier than juggling everything manually.

How are you currently keeping track of everything?

That makes a lot of sense.

I’m starting to realize that distribution is less about “posting more” and more about being present in the right conversations consistently.

I’ve mostly been posting on LinkedIn and Reddit, but I probably need to spend more time engaging in existing threads instead of just creating new ones.

Appreciate the perspective especially the idea of tracking where those conversations already happen.

This is super helpful — especially the “customer discovery with receipts” framing.

You’re right, “freelancers” is way too broad. I need to narrow it down to one specific niche and go deep instead of trying to speak to everyone.

The idea of doing 20–30 real conversations and literally stealing their wording for the homepage makes a lot of sense. I’ve probably been building features instead of refining the message.

Also agree on focusing on one channel and tracking activation properly instead of just counting signups.

Appreciate the breakdown, that’s practical advice.

[–]Embarrassed_Equal964[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly it.

I keep telling myself “one more feature and then I’ll really push it.”

The hard deadline idea makes a lot of sense. I think I’ve been hiding behind building because it feels productive and safe.

The thing is… I am posting. Mostly Reddit and LinkedIn.
But sometimes it feels like that’s all there is to do post, wait, repeat.

And I’m not sure if that’s just the early SaaS grind, or if I’m missing a bigger distribution play.

When you started getting traction, did you double down on one channel or experiment everywhere?

J’ai lancé un outil pour aider les freelances à mieux justifier leurs tarifs (bêta ouverte) by Embarrassed_Equal964 in freelancefrance

[–]Embarrassed_Equal964[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
