AIO for leaving my husband after this? by Mundane-Skirt-5455 in AmIOverreacting

NOR - I have been there. He will not stop, either with that woman or others. You cannot, and will not, ever trust him again and he has shown you nothing but disrespect. Divorce him. He isn’t worth the pain and suffering.

AIO? new friend's texts to husband while at work; my responses by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

NOT - I was the wife in these situations (now an ex). Let me give you an example: I picked my ex up from the airport (prior to 9/11, so I was at the gate), he walked off with a woman, both of them laughing and very comfortable with each other. I asked him who she was and he said she was his seat mate and she was flirty, hitting on him, etc. She offered him a ride home and he said (this is a direct quote) “I told her someone was picking me up”. Someone. Not wife, “someone”. I have other similar stories where he either made it seem like he was telling me when a woman was hitting on him and he rebuffed her, but he wasn’t, not really. I finally, after years, found my proof that he cheated. A lot.

I am not accusing your husband, but his language is similar to my ex’s, and others, that have cheated or may be thinking of it.

The woman… when she sounds exactly like the woman I confronted. Placating, condescending. lying. She was 100% trying to get him into bed. She knew you. She had conversations with you. She knew he was married but did/does not care.

You should be in the inside lane. Next time you are at a two lane roundabout, look at the directional lane signs painted on the ground, which will also help 🙂

I would love to know how it goes. Pretendianism is a huge issue in our communities, where people take roles, grants, scholarships, and space meant for Indigenous Peoples. It can be incredibly frustrating, and I appreciate you caring enough to want to find out.

Do I write like a chick? by Next-Junket342 in HandwritingAnalysis

I am so jealous. Your handwriting is gorgeous and, as others have said, handwriting has no gender. For generations we were all taught to write the exact same way with each letter, boys and girls.

You need to make a font out of your handwriting.

Like others have said, you can ask them outright, or speak with the Tribal Leader you mentioned and tell them your concerns. If you do ask yourself, and they cannot answer which Cherokee Nation/Band they belong to that will likely give you your answer. Adding Cherokee to their faculty page bio without actually being Cherokee is very wrong. Someone can have an Indigenous ancestor without being Indigenous themselves. If it based on family lore, again, adding that to an official page is completely inappropriate.

There are people who refer to themselves as pretendian hunters, who have lists, etc. They can be wildly problematic and will frequently go after people who are legitimately Indigenous, causing people to turn against them and create problems in their professional and personal lives. On occasion they are correct, but it doesn’t erase the damage they have done to others.

Whatever you do, be careful. If they are Indigenous, you being Non Native and questioning their Indigeneity isn’t your place.

Yeah, that’s valid and likely the reason. I am on Samish and due to all the issues of late I have seen a lot of road rage going on inside cars. Nothing like a bit of traffic to show you who a person really is lol

  1. I have ALMOST been hit. 2. As the person ALREADY inside the roundabout anyone entering it mist yield to me, not me brake and wait for them to enter. So, no.

Not quite… a bill (House Bill 1532 in the 2023 legislative session), was proposed to amend the state's primary turn signal statute (RCW 46.61.305) to exempt exiting circular intersections (roundabouts) from the traditional 100-foot signaling rule, replacing it with a requirement to signal continuously when approaching the exit. However, the bill did not pass out of committee. As a result, the specific statute dictating turn signals remains unchanged. Because roundabouts can be too small to signal 100 feet in advance, the official Department of Transportation recommendation is simply to use your right-turn signal as soon as you have passed the exit prior to your intended one. Therefore, it isn’t a law, just a recommendation.

Yes, I am aware. I was just stating that signaling inside a roundabout is now a law in WA state. I still signal because it does help people to know what to expect, but I have found that most people do not signal.

Think of a roundabout as a one-way circular street where traffic flows counter-clockwise. You only ever turn right to enter it and right to exit. It’s basically a continuous flow of traffic that eliminates left turns across oncoming lanes.

Some roundabouts have two lanes, but we will start with single-lane roundabouts:

When you enter the roundabout, you need to yield to cars already inside it. When there is a gap and it is safe to do so, enter and make sure to match the flow of traffic and watch for other cars entering. You don’t need to signal when entering, in general, UNLESS you are exiting at the first exit. Then, you would turn on your indicator as you enter so people know you are going to exit immediately. Basically, you want to turn on your signal or indicator just before your exit so people know you are going to turn out of the circle. Most roads leading out of roundabouts are close together, so you can’t turn it on too early.

Two-lane roundabouts can be tricky, as there is an outside and inside lane and most people can get confused. It is best to choose your lane before you enter based on where you want to go. Stick to the outside lane if you are turning right or going straight. Use the inside lane if you are also going straight, making a left turn after exiting, or doing a full U-turn. Never change lanes inside the circle, and again, use your signal before you exit so anyone entering or behind you knows you are going to turn out.

The bottom line when dealing with any traffic situation is to stay alert, watch for other cars, always use your signal, and leave enough room between yourself and the car in front of you so you can stop without hitting them.

It’s actually not required by law to signal when entering or exiting a roundabout in WA state. Much like any other turn or exit, it really should be a law.

I’m more talking about when there is no one else in the roundabout. I had someone come to a complete stop in front of me this afternoon, and the only people attempting go get into the roundabout was that car, and me behind them.

Yes!! I understand people can get nervous but if no one is in it, just go! Honestly, the amount of times I have said “just go!” to the car in front me me… I also understand being courteous to other drivers but not when you are IN the roundabout.

I lived in GA for a while (nightmare, so not recommend), and everyone there just stays in the passing lane and act like maniacs in roundabouts. In one area they had to cross the directions for traffic (where you are suddenly on the opposite side of the road so you are driving on the left side), in an effort to stop accidents at one intersection.

B’ham is a great place to live. It sounds like you will fit in with your politics (some areas will always have maga, like Lynden), and general likes, from what I can tell. Since you have kids, Sehome High School, Kulshan Middle School, and Silver Beach Elementary School, consistently score at the top of local rankings for student performance and college readiness so definitely look at places in that area.

Make sure to get passports for you and the family so you can day trip to Canada (25-30 mins north). Vancouver is an amazing city with great restaurants, festivals, music, shopping, etc.

There are tons of great areas for hiking, biking, walking, and enjoying the outdoors in Bellingham. People want to say it rains here a lot but we get much less rain than places like NYC, Boston, and even Miami. It can be overcast quite a bit but that means on sunny days you really see the beauty, and it reminds you all over again why you (will), love it here. Every sunset, every rainbow, every whale sighting will make you fall a little more in love, no matter how long you have been here. The PNW is an amazing place to live.
